Throughout history, this has always been the case. It’s not that successful people are completely untalented, although that can sometimes be the case, but exceptionally talented people are usually far ahead of their time. People usually don’t even understand their work, let alone view it as commercial. People like things that are comforting and familiar. They don’t want to have to think, lest they feel unintelligent. Talented people want to probe deeply in their art, but the average person isn’t interested in that.

Finally someone talks about how talent isn't enough. A lot of creators nobly invest in perfecting their craft, only to be greeted by a cold world that won't even give a look or a listen. Or maybe just won't pay a cent. It's not that passionate artists are wrong. Of course talent IS important, but the expectation that it will automatically equate to success is a belief disconnected from reality. However, there is hope. Because we attract what we focus on, we can ALSO invest in maintaining a success-oriented mindset while we perfect our crafts.

Spot on, this is every industry. Once an industry gets big players, those big players make everyone beneath, submit. Then they choose who can make it and who can't, which kills the industry, because the big players choose people that cater to their ego and crush the people with know how. The reason for this is the person with know how, will quickly realize that they don't need the big player.

The reason most talented are not the most successful is because like everything it is considered an industry. It's about turning a profit and most of the time that is what is the most efficient while simultaneously making the most money, so talent and artistry take a backseat. This is one of the most profound videos I’ve ever watched! I love art and always have, from music to dancing and poetry (you name it); but, this is so true! The most talented people get overlooked in favor of those who are willing to compromise morals to gain popularity. It truly is better just to build your own empire (or you can be the kind of artist that seeks a small audience and hope that overtime your audience increases). You might even have those seasons where you just need to do art for yourself for awhile until you’re ready to go back out their or your creative intuition guides you to share your work with the public. For me personally, I’m just tired of fakeness/egocentricity/cowardly people who feel intimidated by your talent as if your light somehow dims theirs (smh); and one might say “well every quality you mentioned defines the majority” and my response would be “well, if the shoe fits it ain’t my fault you’re wearin it!” Safe to say, I’m an artist that thrives on purpose (if not for this generation, then the one after me…I always say)! Whether you touch one or many, you’ve made your mark! 🙏🙏🙏

Most of what this gentleman says, I can get on board with 100%, but I do take exception to the statement that "When you have something that you love you don't [get] tired." [7:31] Creative drives are NOT inexhaustible resources, and burnout is to be expected if one isn't finding nourishment in what they're doing. The enthusiasm and energy of youth can go a long way toward overriding fatigue, but you can't survive solely on loving what you do. @@lolafeaturefilm1637 The world needs more ppl like you. Keep shining and shining. I was blown away by the way you spoke with the interviewer. Especially when she said, "not to be too touchy " I saw The GOD in you, the TRUTH ...a LIGHT that couldn't be taken from you, and that you was ready to answer with pure Wisdom and Confidence. You stressed having MORALS...You definitely have a message to bring to the world. I've subscribed and shared . ✌🏽my brother.

Respect sir. So much respect for you. This exactly why I stayed away from certain people/industries. I like clean music therefore if I were to do music it has to be clean in nature with clean and clear access routes. Pref full creative content and control that way keep it clean. Peace

I don't remember exactly who but I think it was Jim Morrison who said "you've had your whole life to create your first album but you're under pressure to make the following ones". I'm not an artist so I don't know if there's something to it but when I grew up in the 70s and 80s, artists seemed to have more freedom to do their thing. One example is Pink Floyd. 2 years between Dark side of the moon and Wish you were here. Touring of course but... 😊

Great video! I’ve experienced the same politics in making my films. I had one of my cast members who also starred in a top ten film on Netflix tell me that I ‘knew nothing about marketing or leverage’. The truth is I know about about marketing and his motives and I intentionally made the decision not to put him on my film’s poster.
