@Leonidas-eu9bb
@Leonidas-eu9bb Жыл бұрын
The real question is do we even need to lift? My answer is a clear No. I you think you lack in lower body strength/power. You can/will develop it best with jumping variations. Especially single leg multi jumps (hops) are a gamechanger! Do it up stairs, lateral or classic hopping for speed. Single leg step up jumps are a great strength exercise. It will help your sprinting much more than doing BB lifts.

So in my programming I do believe in velocity based training, so yes eventually once athletes are strong enough in my desired lifts then we will ramp up the speed and do things like speed squats and trapbar high pulls, things of that nature to help with motor unit recruitment and power developmental, BUT YOU DONT NEED IT technically, plyometrics are also a key portion

If you can’t develop momentum then top speed is non existent, a good acceleration isn’t just getting to the 30 first is actually producing horizontal force . And context is key, nobody is fast enough at the highschool level to win off top speed alone. They need to be a overalls compete and developed athlete, not even at the d1 college level can people win without having and well balanced split throughout the race. These people are not Noah lyles

When you got stronger, did you increase in body weight? You have to remember it's all about relative strength when it comes to sprintinh,not absolute strength. If you increase your relative strength, you will become faster to some degree no matter what
@justjumari
@justjumari Жыл бұрын
Relative strength is still Velocity specific, research to prove that. Not anything is linear so as you keep pushing for more reactive strength more and more negative returns will come with strength gains once you get past around 1.75 x bodyweight . Only time in the research that getting stronger has DIRECT transfer to speed is when your under 2 years of training
@Quanzino1
@Quanzino1 Жыл бұрын
@justjumari7880 did you gain weight tho when you gained strength? Resesrch supports what I'm saying. Relative strength and speed strongly correlate. Deadlift is a better measure of relative strength than squat. Read into ryan Flaherty's trap bar deadlift research within his nike athletes.
