Thank you Steve for this sound advice and superb direction. Whenever I try to make that drastic swing change, I beat myself up for chunking, topping, or shanking. No more! You've finally convinced me to end my stubbornness, drop my ego, and embrace initial terrible practice shots for hopefully a superior lasting golf swing.)

Helpful to hear that shallowing properly will feel exaggerated. Like hurdling practice in college, coach said not to be afraid to hit the hurdle because you'll know where your foot is and get feedback to raise it. Steve, you could clarify Mike Austin's shallowing move because his videos appear as though he swings quite steep and not very inside-out. Swinging like Mike Austin feels very natural but I keep coming over the top and outside-in more than straight or inside-out. A lesson explaining how he shallows, and with slow motion, would be quite helpful.

I did the same thing. Stumbled upon this style of swinging during one magical round about 24 years ago. Got away from it because it wasn’t what I was “supposed” to be doing.(?!?!) Only in the past weeks or so have I gotten back to it and found your videos as confirmation. I feel better now for “only” having wasted 24 years of my life.

Since your “throw” video s cured any outside in I had I wanted to ask if you did/could talk about weight shift is not slide but turning. That is if you agree.

Hello Again Steve: I reviewed my "body positions" when swinging on a circular path so as to hit the inner back part of the ball. No attempt was made to do anything else but hit "the spot". It was interesting to see that in the act of swinging to "that spot" my hips cleared perfectly and my shoulders appeared automatically to follow the path that you outlined in the excellent video above. I wonder if you might consider another video with "hitting to hit the spot" as the subject! Thanks.

That red stick is genius……so simple.

Shallowing the swing along with turning the torso is the most difficult move in golf Steve. Indeed, virtually all books on golf instruction attempt to teach one to adopt a move that is both difficult to visualize and execute. I wonder for some if simply making an "x" on the inside part of the ball and concentrating on hitting that area of the ball is a good way to proceed. One would not be at all concerned with "how" to hit the X but simply "to hit it"....all conscious thinking about the "how" is replaced by one positive action. Since everyone has a different physique and differing physical abilities simply concentrating on the RESULT and NOT THE PROCESS could be a much better way to proceed. As proof, simply watch the pros...all of their swings are different...but in the final few inches all seem to hit the ball near the same area OF THE BALL...forget about swing path, shallowing, turning, etc., etc.....mark the "X" and hit it....show the student "the sweet spot" and how the face of the club should look when the face hits the X....I'll bet that many of your students will make very rapid progress.

The amount of times I get bad golfers to do the Hogan flare lead foot and their ball striking suddenly gets fixed is astonishing. They always ask why? I say, open hips mate!
@CaribSurfKing12 жыл бұрын
The main reason golfers come over the top is due to their initial experiences hitting balls. Typically they always hit thin slices because they are using their arms for power. From then on, they aim left to counter act it, then their are forever an over the top player. If you can start them hitting 50 yd shots preset with their hips open, this problem goes away. Then you just up the length of swing. As soon as they hit it with a slice, you slow them down again. Most golfers think that impact is the same as address with the hips!

By videoing my swing and playing it in slow motion. I get steep but I do not come across it. My face is closed and I do hit a draw but I tend to overdraw it left of the green

Putting that stick down effectively makes you super open to that target, this fixes all issues! I think beginning golfers, even super early on, are target based. They need to be solid straight based. They should not care about the target until they can repeat it going straight and solid, in this case out to right field

Why do I have to swing the club back so the clubhead is in front of my hands, then reroute it to come from the inside? Wouldn't it be easier to suck it in at the backswing and deliver it on the same plane in the downswing and automatically come in to out??

Why do I need to shallow out the swing , surely I will get less height on the ball ?

More. You will probably increase your angle of attack.

How then, are you able to have your divots pointing straight or left? I’d love to see your divots on a divot board.
@Inmotion702 жыл бұрын
If you exit well it will make the path 0 with the plane parallel to the foot line.
@manfredherrig75222 жыл бұрын
@@Inmotion70 I also think, that you can create divots in front and left of your left foot on the target line, that are very straight, very long and shallow but as wide as the clubface with this technique. Test it in the sand or rough or on a divot indicator board, where you can see them. Practicing such divots with practice-swings is a good idea anyway.
