Hundreds of years ago the Uros people escaped the wrath of the Incas and lived on the water instead of the land so the Incas couldn't get to them. The reeds were their only resource and they learned to make everything out of them, and they still do to this day. It's insane!

Wow this is one of my favorite videos so far. I was close to this place as well when I went from La Paz to Cuzco (and eventually Machu Picchu) as well. But we only had a short break there on the side of the road so we didn't see the floating villages. Of course I'm very curious now if you will visit Bolivia too, now that you're almost there already. My trip was back in 2012, but I still think about that time. Especially after seeing your previous one. Thanks and have fun!

That truly is willage 🤣🤣🤣 . Oh and my favorite car I ever had was a 1968 VW beetle. It plowed through a a foot of snow (a little over 30 cm) with ease. With those skinny 15 inch tires and all the weight of the lawn mower motor in the back. Plus you can take to from hood off and set in the front for a fun ride. It was great living in a small town or willage as you'd call it 😁 . Thanks for the tour. When I was in school I did as good as I could to study South America (which wasn't much with the LIMITED library I had access to) thanks truly. 😘

Aww I thought we were the only one that has the only floating lake that people live on it. It's very similar to our LOKTAK LAKE in MANIPUR. We also make traditional Mat by reed grass, bags, lamp, and other stuff but not in the lake huts though. Only one house can built in each floating ring Phumdi's. The only difference is our floating Phumdi does not sink, when the water level goes down, it still stay as it is and does not change anything. People survive selling fishes from there.
