Please get a spinning reel, they just are so much better than spin cast and you will not regret it. Get a daiwa samurai, they are thirty bucks of of Dick’s sporting goods and last a long time, they also come in varying lengths and weights so you can fit it to your style

@@mobiledragon3449 I’m getting a 6’6 ugly stick rod from academy. What size of reel should I get if I intend on fishing for largemouth, sand trout and redfish. Also what kind of line should I get?
@mobiledragon3449 Жыл бұрын
@@hendrix6516 20lb braid should work great for those fish, and a 4000 size penn spinning reel should do well, though you might want to downsize for bass a little and get a 3500, so you get the best of both worlds for saltwater. If you go to your nearest bass pro or cabelas, they should spool up your reel for you. Watch some tutorials on KZbin because that’s how I learned how to fish. One last thing for saltwater use something called a Carolina rig. You can look it up on google, and it works good for most saltwater species and even freshwater catfish. Edit: maybe get a 3000 if you’re doing more bass fishing, so you can get a better fight out of them. You should still be able to handle redfish and trout with you’re drag set right. Also for saltwater get circle hooks and 20 pound clear line for rig making. Sorry for long comment 😂

@@wildlifefishingshow that makes perfect sense. Recently I was fishing long nose gar in clear water and noticed they were hesitant to pick anything up off the bottom. They preferred a floating bait or anything they could look up at. It made me think of your floats so I figured I'd ask. Thanks man!

I have a couple of questions for you P. What is the leader line you are using? It looks like cordage or a thin rope? I did notice you did not do your normal wait until the Gar stops to eat the bait and when he runs again set the hook. I assume you were concerned with how much line he was taking with his first run, so you set early? Finally If you ever get a scale off of a big Gar show it off to the camera. I have gotten Tarpon Scales, redfish scales and others and would like to compare to what a large Gar has for armor. Thanks!
@wildlifefishingshow Жыл бұрын
The leader is 500lb Dupont kevlar braid. Really good stuff. Sometimes the fish will eat the bait while swimming. I find if they maintain their original direction and speed without angling off for some time, they are probably going to swallow it while running. I was also worried about it running under that barge.
