Getting my blue belt meant more than graduating university. My classes became a joke as I went into education from history and geography. It was a total let down, nothing meant anything because everyone got an A, no matter what. Fighting every class for two years, through the pain, the injuries, balancing and changing life to make Jiu Jitsu more of a priority, and then getting my blue belt was a huge moment for me. Now I want a purple belt.

3 stripe white belt here, and im kinda nervous about getting a blue belt. Im the kinda guy who likes to fly under the radar
@yusetsuarez79724 жыл бұрын
Don't even worry. If you keep going to the gym it's just a matter of time no matter how low you want to fly under the radar. If your instructor gives it to you, it really means that you earned it. It feels good at the beggining, but the only thing that's going to change is the color of your belt. The struggle, the joy and the little frustrations, will stay the same.

@@jackostripes5452, that’s a lofty goal. I would love to, but when you start getting older, the toll on your body starts to factor in. You always need to take some time to recover.

I’ve been doing the same. I’ve been training 5-6 times a week. My professor says that I should be a blue belt and that I’m at that level. But I feel like I’m on the veil or literally on the line between white belt and blue belt. But still, that promotion is gonna feel so good. And when we get just know you made it to the level where 90% of people don’t make it. You’ll be in the 10% and soon (probably by now) the less than 1%(black belt).

I just got my purple belt this past Saturday - everything in this video rings true. While I was super excited to get my blue belt and out of my white belt, I hope I can live up to the purple belts who came before me! Getting this purple belt and making it out of blue belt (over 4 years), ranks up there above getting a masters degree in personal achievements.

Are the BJJ places open where you live? As for training with a mask, it's impossible in jiu jitsu. Even if your area requires masks everywhere the BJJ places won't wear it but you have to keep it a secret.

Ive done bjj for 3 years and granted its the tip of the iceberg as far as the game goes and i get what you mean its hard but wrestling in h.s. was harder. Running 3 miles for warm ups , then , running inside with the mats with calisthenics then live wrestling does not compare to 1&1/2 of bjj class. Where u sit and talk and kumbaya . Bjj is awesome and i love it. But hard ? Nah .

Yes...and in the past there were only three belts, white, blue and navy. The only thing is that "today" the average blue/purple belt is exposed to a glossary of BJJ that is VASTLY bigger than any black belt of the past.
