Great job on the video and advice. Before i re-riveted my jon i scoured TBN and multiple youtube videos. You hit all the points across the board. Only thing i would add is sealed pop rivets work amazingly and are much easier to install. Ones i did were tighter than the solid ones i tried to hand buck. However, they are looked down upon by some boat snobs who relish in "proper" rivet technique.

Do they stick up higher inside the boat?
@buddyrevell6369Минут бұрын
@WayneTheBoatGuy hmmm. Maybe slightly higher, nothing to write home about. I found that they seal much better then the regular ones for us DIY folks. To be fair, I used the pop rivets where the existing rivet needed to be removed or was beyond bucking. Which in my case was most of the boat. Equipment wise you need a strong pneumatic or manual gun (type that requires 2 hands). Really enjoy the content.

Awesome! You're fixing the leaks on the 14' aluminum jon boat for the lucky winner! lol

Aluminum apoxy is a thing as is aluminum tape, my father was an aircraft mechanic and we kept a sportpal canoe going way past its life expectancy. Ive also seen a manual rivet "gun?" back in the day, it had a lever handle and took custom rivets, it was metalic silver baby blue colour and cast aluminum construction i think. A nail gun powered by 22 bullets was in the same drawer. All that being said, he worked on intercontinental passenger aircraft when they still had propellers. We also had a sears 14' aluminum and I think a ballpine hammer became useful.

Airplane riveters have to do a REALLY GOOD job! They do not allow sloppy rivets.

Funny you’ve made this video: I’ve replaced about 500 rivets on my boat. I tried a bunch of stuff. I ended up having the best luck with close end blind pop rivets: they generate the same seal as the ones in your video but can be easily installed with 1 person: I like g flex as well. 5200 is nice but the g flex seems better to me.

Do the blind pop rivets end up sticking up a bit higher?
@All_A_Guy_NeedsСағат бұрын
@@WayneTheBoatGuy nope. The ones I bought set flush just like the ones in your video!

It's kinda hard to use the right rivet when use order brasier head and the people amazon uses send you flat head rivets.
