Never boring. Love your walkabouts, Trev. I pipe them through my wide-screen TV, and I feel like I'm actually there. Keep it up, my friend. Thanks for being my virtual tour guide. I've got to get out there one day. Best wishes, Trev.

Many countries around the world adopt the same policy, the reasoning being that locals already help support the local attractions/ infrastructure through direct and indirect taxation and should therefore have subsidised access.

I've said it many a time, Trev.... dual pricing! Not happening. It's not the cost, it's the principle. Local concessions OK [for Sattahip, or maybe even wider Chonburi area residents], but double price for foreigners, forget it.
@Buzzinpattaya11 ай бұрын
Fair enough mate I get ya

I would love dual pricing in the UK it would make the scum and the illegal migrants think twice😬
@lilfella741511 ай бұрын
Thailand is very cheap compared to western countries so I don't mind so much about dual pricing. The Thai salary is usually not very high, so I think it's good that the locals can also enjoy these beautiful places. If you go somewhere with your Thai girlfriend, etc., usually the Farang pays for everything in any case, so it can be considered a discount😁 Of course I also understand your principles, so this is just my own opinion. Enjoy your time in Thailand everyone!
@furdrai7811 ай бұрын
Don't come to Thailand and be STINGY, they'll run you out of the country. Oh...
@MrMairu55511 ай бұрын
@la7415For sure, enjoy it if you so wish, and certainly not telling you what/what not to do. I just refuse to support it. As a point of reference, my first exposure to it was in 2000, at Nongnooch Gardens when a family in Merc in front of us (Mercs were quite rare to see in Thailand back in the late 90s/early 2000s) passed through without charge, and then my friend and I were to be charged ฿300 each. (Our girlfriends -- later our wives) would've been free too, but we both made a conscious decision at that point that we'd never support dual pricing. I actually took it up with Kampon (the owner of Nongnooch) when I did some work for him around 2012, but he couldn't see the any benefit with common pricing.

Stop moaning about dual pricing. I have never been to a national park or major tourist attraction in a developing country that wasn't duel priced. These places that attract large amounts of visitors need extra maintenance and management. That has to be funded. Do you expect the locals to subsidise rich (relatively) westerner to trample all over their national monuments? Or worse, do you want entrance fees that price out the locals just so that everybody pays the same regardless of median national salary?
