We LOVE The Good and the Beautiful but I agree it moves quickly for learning to read. It’s best after they learn their letter sounds very well. I will say the new revised levels are much better if you haven’t tried them yet! My daughter is working through level K and I like it so much more than the older level K I used with my son a few years ago.

We used Abeka K5 letters and sounds, very solid phonics program. We use Abeka spelling and also reading for my oldest and BJU reading and spelling for my middle child. I like how both BJU and Abeka focuses on vocabulary, marking syllables, reading comprehension, and inferring.

Hey friend, I have a few questions on your Christian light curriculum that you were mentioning. I’m using BJU Press for my oldest. She’s in seventh grade and it works great for her now my son however I am definitely curious about Christian light for him. You were mentioning how your kids enjoy it and it’s easy to understand so I’m doing more one-on-one with him this year rather than him watching BJU Press online I think it was too overstimulating for my oldest son, do you think Christian light would be a good recommendation for him? I feel the same way you do. It’s not that I’m not willing to try new curriculum. I just don’t like wasting the money also if I could avoid it. ❤ this year I’m I need more of a math curriculum that I can work with him individually. thank you so much for putting this video out. I love learning so many new things about other curriculum because through the years we’ve used Abeka My Fathers world and BJU Press and then of course just odds and ends up worksheets and books that we find at teacher stores thanks again.

I'm not Jessica, obviously 😂 but my daughter uses Christian light. It's a fairly inexpensive curriculum, and I even sometimes find used teachers books on mecari. Also their student work books are under $5 per book, there is 10 books per subject and grade. But it isn't too pricey to try out because you could just order one to see if you like it along with the teachers book. I also wanted to say I don't believe that it is overstimulating at all. It is a full lesson and does take some time though. I hope this helps until Jessica can respond.

We loved TGATB. Of all the curriculum we used, it was BY FAR the best one for our learner AND it was our favorite. And the art and geography integrated into the language arts (and some in the math) was wonderful. The only thing I did not particularly care for was the spelling. I supplemented the spelling.
@FieldsFullHouse15 күн бұрын
I do like TGATB too!

One of the best parts we love about homeschooling is you can swap curriculums if needed. We have had to swap our reading program for one child and math for another.

I literally find myself taking extra breaths when I watch your videos! There's so much going on, and I honestly don't know how you do it, every single day!! I think I'd lose my mind! For example, when you stop talking to listen to what your kids are saying.........that in itself is amazing, it takes a lot of patience ! You're incredible!

I love salads. You can do so many different types of salads. The bread looked so delicious! I like that Pampered Chef salad dressing maker. Im trying to get my daughter to pull her daughter out of public school and homeschool her. I hope she listens to me because public schools are not safe anymore. I worry every day that they go to school. Rake all your scraps in a big bowl or a bucket and feed to the chickens. They love scraps and egg shells. Bread too. Just a tip! 😊

We tried MBs this year also…. Nope! We went back to TGTB and are very happy to be back on track. I don’t know why I changed (just the itch for change, I guess) since we have been using TGTB for 5 years now… I won’t switch again. It just works well for us.

My 16 year old has been doing Saxon for years (TT before that). She has a “math brain” but she learns very slowly. She struggled last year but got through Algebra 1. Algebra 2 was not going well AT ALL (lessons taking 2-3 hours 😢) so we switched last week (back) to Teaching Textbooks, she’s doing Geometry instead. She’s doing so much better. Sometimes we have to switch midstream. I’m so thankful that we have that choice with home schooling! I’m right there with you with the messes. I totally believe in living life and messing up the house but unfortunately, it short circuits my brain! 🤪😂 Great video, Jessica. Thank you!

Well, switching things up is what is homeschool moms do! And we have the freedom and flexibility to do that, so good for you for making the best choice and not continuing with something you know doesn’t work for your kids. Was it just for English? I’ve never really looked into master books much

Can you get your money back on Master Books?? I’m a teacher and so much time is non-instructional at school I’m certain you’ll be able to make up for lost time in a jiffy with your kiddos. Don’t fret. Also, if the books don’t work for the teacher they will not work for the students, so well done!!! When I have command of my teacher text I deliver darn good instruction! So good old trusty is best!

Yes it’s nice you listen to your children, However, there is a fine line between interruption that can be perceived as bad manners. Your children are absolutely Wonderful! But must be trained to not voice in interruption mode constantly but rather be patient for a window.
