I love how you got permission from the living decendants of the house / your friend... but still asked permission from the actual owners of the home that passed away. That is so respectful, and it shows how good of a person you are!

I saw a video like this where the teenage son of the family had left behind a complete, like-new Yamaha drum kit w/ nice Zildajian cymbals. Stands, pedals, everything. It must've hurt so bad to say goodbye to that. And a little kid's room, with little collections of rocks, feathers, and stuff like kids are into. It made me sad.

Please, but a decent parted thermal fleece hat & some bike mitts to reduce cold fatigue & up your comfort levels. What socks are you wearing? decent wool bike socks breathe well so likely will be good for 4 days+ even with trainers, you need to address the cold season with a clothing adjustment to your travel kit

Corn soup, the underrated cheap hero! Here's hoping next winter is van life so you have the cabin heater! Even the all-enclosed shelter from the outside will help a lot. Also it's okay if you order a prefecture sticker online! As long as you have video evidence you've been there it still counts haha. So if you find you can't find a prefecture sticker one day, please don't stress about it! We're all watching your journey and supporting you Robin, whatever goals you have set for yourself. The best jacket to wear when it is cold and you are on a motorcycle is a brand of jacket called Carhartt.They aren't cheap but I think they are the best around. They are around $170.00.
@terramarini68802 күн бұрын
Heated jackets are pretty nice. My son got one from Makita when he had an outdoor construction job (we live in north BC) someone on the jobsite jacked his battery, apparently they are interchangeable with their cordless tools and he figures it went onto one of their tools at home. A windshield for the bike would be a good idea too. My husband liked his Carhartts when he went out snowmobiling, getting firewood, ice fishing etc. He had their hooded jacket and the full suit.

With the cold Season aproaching it might be time to Travel during the day and stay warm during nighttime, don't take unnecessary risks, watch your health and have proper sleep. Im sorry for your friends loss 🙏🏻 was nice of him to let you stay at the place, so nice to see how respectful the dead are treated, asking them for permission to stay, i lived in a couple very old houses, they can be pretty noisy, sad that without electricity you probably dont have warm water and stuff like that but its still better than sleeping outside. Still funny, imagine the neighbours seeing someone sneaking around 🥷🏻entering from like the terrace 🤣 the Furniture looked so cool and old fashioned they are provblably worth a lot if restore.

With anyone with a pension or ex military expats, going to rural china or just to one of the smaller almost abandoned small towns and getting cozy with the locals is a good idea to purchase one of these vacant homes as there are many on the market. That's my plan for the this next year to set up a home base in rural Japan by the end of 2025. It really depends on my my health works out being only 45 and facing my own bucket list. Its amazing just how little I really need as far as accommodations are concerned being I spent so much time in the military, a small box with just a bed and a shower and toilet is about all I need. And looking around thailand, I found you get get a hotel for less than $9 dollars a day! Not a bad place, and with about a few hours of elbow grease, the inside would be spotless. Staying there for about a month or so would be ideal to just check out the area and I don't plan to spend to much time in the hotel itself. But japan? If you look around and some of the work vacations they offer, you can stay there for practically free and they also provide at least 2 of your meals. More than any Burger like me needs. These work vacations can last about a month or abouts, and its the perfect way to explore japan as you only work a few days out of the week, depending on your contract / location you pick. That way you get a few days off and get to explore and its a very cheap way to explore japan. I heard they also have the inside track for inexpensive flight packages as well, as you pay for your own flight there, but they seem to be able to offer you a better deal through their program. As I'm from Portland, flights from PDX to Japan are about $1000 bucks avg. for economy class if you want to bring a luggage. with the cheapest flights around the $500 mark. (Frontier) with only bringing a backpack. The later seems fine as why bring clothes and lots of stuff with you when you can just buy them there? It's not like Amazon and all the rest are no readily there, and there is TONS of shops to buy stuff in Japan. Personally, I like to travel light anyways, so just a chromebook, phone and Maybe some headphones.
