Robin-san, with 38 prefectures left and 310 days, that’s roughly 7-8 days per prefecture on average. On a moped, you’d spend 2-4 days traveling and 4-6 days exploring each prefecture. Allowing for rest and moped maintenance, it’s totally doable within the time frame. Keep pushing forward-you’ve got this!

At 61, I’m happy to encourage anyone embarking on these travel adventures. It’s something I wish I’d done more of myself-especially traveling the world in a more unconventional way. Not by flying and staying in hotels, but by motorcycle, van, or on foot. For me, the key would have been to embrace a looser, less rigid itinerary, taking more risks and facing discomforts to create a truly authentic adventure.

For those traveling to Japan, love hotels have usually wider spaces compared to hotels. We booked a love hotel from our previous Japan trip which is 30sqm vs our booked traditional hotel 16sqm, but the love hotel was much cheaper, a lot of freebies, and amenities such as karaoke, massage chairs, unlimited drinks, popcorn, curry, etc. So consider booking a love hotel in your next Japan trip.
