Not sure why you would start with a Rubicon if you’re just going to ditch all the Rubicon factory hardware anyway. Save a few $ and start with a Sport.

Plus if you keep the tcase do you not have a 4:1 low in a rubi model?

Once you sell the wheels and tires and axles it nets out not being much more, you get a ton more creature comforts and the t case. So it’s a mild premium but not as much as it seems on face value.

That’s such an awesome idea to ditch the technology. I’m 40 and had to use paper maps when I started driving. I hate to admit I’ve been a slave to the gps over the last decade or so....such a great thing to do. I think I may use the map & compass only rule one of our future adventures, especially for the kids and younger drivers.

So this race is pretty much like doing well-marked BDRs with only topo maps, a compass, and a timer over two states, but supported with showers, bathrooms, food/water, mechanics and SAR teams on standby. If that’s EXTREME, what is, say, Istanbul to Vladivostok, or Dan Grec’s 999 days traversing Africa solo? 🤷 (ps I understand click-baits, but...)

I'm curious about what she thinks of having that rack-mounted KC Pro 6 light bar installed behind the freedom panels, on the actual hardtop. I wonder if the bottom quarter or half of the light bar's beam is blocked out from the roof in your field-of-view.
@SanDiegoJeepClub4 жыл бұрын
They light up the sky and the road ahead. That hasn’t been an issue. One thing to not is we had a light bar on the last rig and the noise that thing made ughh. KC has zero noise.
@Nick-tp1gp4 жыл бұрын
@@SanDiegoJeepClub The first time I noticed a mounting style like that was when I saw the KC Hilites stock photos of their roof rack (m-rack I believe). I've been keeping that rack in the back of my mind, while I was skeptical of how they mounted it. Glad to hear a positive opinion. If I take that plunge in the future I plan on testing it unbolted to position it in a few configurations, and I do hope I agree with your choice as well to mount it in the back. Major pros in that dept for me.
