Balatro Part 18 - I finally found the hack joker at the perfect time. It's time to take these 2s, 3s, and 5s and head to the moon. Old orange stake was difficult, but that won't stop me in the slightest.

Fun fact, the hand Tyler played at 10:04 is VERY close to being the hand that legendary gunslinger and lawman Bill Hickock had when he was shot in the back and killed while at a poker table. This is also known as "The Dead Man's Hand" and is considered to be bad luck to play through to the end of the round with, even though it is a good hand. The main differences between Tyler's hand and a True Dead Man's Hand is that Tyler played a Full-House with both red and black suits, whereas a True Dead Man's Hand was a Two-Pair of Aces and Eights of only the black suits with an un-specified fifth card.

Watching you play Aces over eights, I thought that it'd be neat for a game like this to have a gimmick where if you do play the Dead Man's Hand, your current run is immediately scrapped, but you unlock a really REALLY good Joker.

Reminds me of one of my best runs of pre-patch gold stake: Main hand was flush five run with red seal lucky 2s of hearts, sub hand was High Card bc DNA. Fib (negative from uncommon tag plus negative tag), Hack, Blueprint (natural negative), Wee Joker (negative from spectral pack), Hiker, Bloodstone, Lucky Cat, DNA (courtesy of the extra joker slot voucher), and Oops All 6s. Most of the ones not negative had some other edition, only one was Polychrome, the rest were holo and foil except for I think Bloodstone, which was waiting for another spectral pack to make it negative. Just some absolutely insane numbers, and decent scaling too. I just wished I'd sold a joker I ended up selling later that same ante, so I could've Ankh'd my Oops All 6s in ante 2. Double Oops would've been insane, screw the Hiker lol. By the end of it in ante 17 or so, Lucky Cat was at like x30 mult. I was rolling e18 hands most of the time, and I think, if I'd had a second Oops, my scaling would've made it a bit beyond that. Especially since a lot of my base mult was from the hand levels from Space Joker I sold for Wee Joker, a move I probably wouldn't have made if I was getting a guaranteed level every hand.

I just realized why scaling in Balatro works, its because you take 50 different multipliers and just keep stacking them, the base mechanic is multiplying your card number with a multiplier, each Joker adds a different multiplier to one of those two numbers, and other Jokers and cards then multiply those Jokers, creating large numbers from simple 2x mults.
