Comedy is a great way to subvert the pain of existing in this world we have built. Not too surprised about this, but a great video nonetheless. Very interesting how GG Allin and John Wayne Gacy Jr were clearly influential in this version of the Joker. Can't wait.

Great observation. That's why I always get excited when a comedian or comedy writer takes on dark cinema. There's a parallel and a sense of experience with it. Like Robin Williams in insomnia or Jordan Peele directing Get Out. Comedians can adjust to this well. All they have to do is make the dark humor a bad joke. Then it becomes disturbing. But to the creator, it's still a joke. A great example is a line Negan had in The Walking Dead. "Lucille is thirsty. She is a vampire bat!" Of course the viewers and the "lineup" won't find this funny at all, but looking back in hindsight, it's actually a pretty funny pun. Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm St. decided to embrace the humor. They figured the more absurd they made the killings, the more popular it would get. And they were right. I don't know how many people I've met when they were kids who was scared shitless of Jason only to become adults and laugh their asses off at his killing methods (Knocking a head in a trash can and slamming a sleeping bag against a tree out of frustration were 2 of my personal favorites). So you should be fascinated that filmmakers who specialize in comedy are hitting the horror genre head on. Not only are they the last line of defense when it comes to edgyness, but they may very well become the saviors of the horror genre itself. I only wish there were more. Sorry for the long post, but I really got into this analysis.

I'm a punk rocker for a long time. GG allin is seen as one of the most insane punk artists out there. He'd do some of the craziest things on stage. There's a video of his last show/ last day alive before he was found dead from a heroin overdose the next day.
