I ordered a variety pack of the picks and a slide. I ordered the wrong size slide and contacted the owner about exchanging it for a different size. He generously said he would send me the size I needed and just asked that I give the other slide to someone else to try. Pay it forward! Very nice of him. The picks and slides have been great.

He should sell the mechanism that goes into the slide as a standalone for people to put into their favorite slides or slides that they already have.

that's not a bad Idea too. I have about 12 slides and I doubt if I'd buy more, but this, I could see my self putting this in the bog ones that I bought when I knew nothing about slides...

I put a piece of lamb's wool trimming inside a metal tube for my slide. Works well, nice and snug and was free. Been using it for over 15 years now. Thumb and finger picks have been around forever. This new one looks great and allows for more hand expressions while on stage without dropping a pick.

I couldn’t find a good slide that fit my ring finger until I discovered the Dunlop Blues Bottle 276 HVY-LG. It fits perfectly, is smooth and glassy sounding, and is inexpensive.

I play with thumb pick and fingerpicks. Thumbpick was like a vise , fingerpicks were just weird. Took a while but now It’s natural to me. The spring loaded pick looks like a good compromise. Same with the slide, I use a 5/8 socket. The fun part of learning slide is you have to hear to play so everyone else hears it also!

I purchased the Ring slide within an hour of you posting that original review and after a lot of practice, I am getting pretty confident with it in live applications. Since I am the only electric on the team, it allows me to still play other parts while still being able to throw in the slide parts. Last night, I forgot to pack up the slide and had to use a full sized one the leader happened to have. I felt more skilled with slide while using the full sized slide, over the Ring one. However, I didn't have a good solution to play those other parts, outside of duct tape and a Mic stand. I might end up getting this as well!

These look awesome I've tried finger picks in the past, but they always had a weird curve in them making them useless for a lefthanded player. Is the ring on the pick flat or at least flat enough to put on your left thumb and have it face the right direction I couldn't tell. Thanks for all your content and hard work you put into showing us these different products.

Never played much slide but used a length of copper water pipe on my little finger when I did. Those picks look interesting as I developed a hybrid picking style which one of those would open right up - it would free up my hand much better than a flat pick, which was a bit awkward and really only allowed for plucking rather than fluid picking, although I could execute trills on non-adjacent strings. I found pre-sized thumb picks uncomfortable and the spring loading seems a great idea. Hoping to get back into playing again soon. Both these gizmos look worth checking out.

the thumb picks are great, the spring inside the slide, i'd have to test it because I get my slides a little larger than my finger and I curl my finger slightly to adjust angle of the slide in addition to finger movement as well as hold it if I'm holding my fret hand upside down. . . I've used a piece of chamois or leather to make it snug fit but since I started using my finger curl haven't needed it).

I've been using a glass slide I bought at StewMac that has the cutout and high polished edges. I can't seem to hang on to pick's these days. I can't wait to try them! A friend of mine also gave me a pick with a soft rubber like cover over 2/3 of it. It's removable to put on another one. I want to blame the problem on age, but not sure. 8-/ LOL --gary

Thanks for reviewing these. How well do the picks stand up to heavy/hard picking? Does the spring keep enough tension or does it start coming off? Thanks!
@johnlebeau5471

I tend to not like thumb picks, but this one, even though it is attached to your thumb, you can hold it between your thumb and first finger like a normal pick. They also have different spring tensions.

The only slide I’ve ever been able to get something… not horrible out of is a little like half size glass one. It fits my finger up to the knuckle and the tip of my finger comes out a bit. It gives me control I’ve never felt with a slide. It was 8 bucks from d’adario I think

The slide itself is not a magnet, but is made of metal that can be attracted to a magnet. So you can mount a magnet on your stand and it will stick.

??? Hello everyone! Long time watcher first comment... Thanks for all you do Phil, I've watched and enjoyed LOTS of your videos. Just got a '21 Squier Jag 70's CV I'm trying to get the action set on. Any suggestions on DIY nut files? I want to get a set of 11's on it, and have some basic 'needle file's from Harbour F. Is opening the high E slot a little TOO much of a problem? Thanks!! ??????

There are videos where people make nut files easily out of those 5$ feeler gauges you get at Harbor Freight. You can make them the perfect size and seems pretty easy. I plan on giving that a try this winter on one of my guitars

Originally Joe Walsh used a glass Coricidin meds bottle for his slide playing. Apparently when Joe found out that the brand would be changing to plastic containers, he went out and bought all the bottles he could. He ditched the meds and kept the bottles. And Lowell George (RIP) of Little Feat used a Sears & Roebuck "Craftsman" 11/16 of an inch sized socket wrench.. Probably the long reach socket for removing spark plugs (?). Lowell said that the good thing about the socket wrench was that he could get a replacement almost anywhere.

I'm digging that guitar man! Does the company have as good of quality as when they were called Carvin? I am really trying to save up $3850 to spend on a good guitar like a super strat or aLes Paul shaped Dean or my favorite Knaggs. Please try a Knaggs guitar if u get the chance Sir and put in on your vlog. I would watch it every day at least 3. Again I love the fiddle man and the tone is alright.

Wish I could've bought some of these picks and a slide but- his site doesn't accept my debit card. Finally, called my bank after trying multiple times and they explained that the card is blocked form being used out of country- which makes zero sense and isn't true because I just bought some stuff from Japan a couple days ago. Whatever the issue is though- it will not go through so- no picks for me. Edit: Never give up- I used my Pay Pal credit account and it went through- they're on the way.
