I ended up buying the X1 Nano, and it is super light. It feels like it's as light as my phone. But it's actually 4½ times heavier than my phone. On better battery mode it runs very well with the fans rarely turning on, and if they do it's inaudible. One of the biggest complaints is the lack of ports, but if you know that going into it, you're generally okay with that trade off.

Very smart choice. Not sure why I'm still drawn to the fold, when it's bigger, heavier, & way more pricey. Gen 2 looks sweet.

My only dislike about the new X1 ThinkPads is the placement of the logo. It used to be in the lower left corner of the lid, which I think looked better. Don't like the placement of it on the palm rest, either, on some models like the X1 Carbon. If I ever did get one of the newer ones with that logo placement, I'd need to get a skin for it.

I keep thinking of the Microsoft Surface Duo. It looks cool but its too small to be practical and the split in the screen is annoying. I like the way the Thinkpad shows it off is both presentable and practical from the aesthetic and productivity standpoints.

Thinkpads are rugged. I have a decade old Thinkpad and it still runs! I remember with fondness my Thinkpad from the IBM days and Lenovo has built on that reputation.
@accrevoke3 жыл бұрын
Their "new" proprietary connector (usb c + "ethernet port") is not quite thinkpad duty, the software side thermal tuning (fan going haywire) is not great. Now they keep making the notebook thinner and inevitably cutting into the keyboard traveling depth, and their docking... It's like we are at a point needing a reset.
@victoriousgangster3 жыл бұрын
They are all nice laptops. The fold is great for a college student imo. BUT none of those are for me. For my work flow, I need a dedicated graphics card. 4k video editing, 3d modeling, music, etc etc, an integrated aint going to cut it.

Apple still hasn’t been able to make a portable superpowerful 12” laptop despite the fact people have asked for it. In its folding Thinkpad, Lenovo has fused the tablet and the keyboard into a compact and convenient design. People don’t always want a desktop replacement machine. I love my MacBook Pro 15” but I wouldn’t exactly call it portable. Its not something you can easily stuff in a bag and take with you on the go.
