For the materials that can bow I 3D printed some pegs that fit snugly in the honeycomb with a two-step cap on it that works great as a registration marker and a hold down.
@AndyBirdBuilds Жыл бұрын
I've thought about using something like this. The only problem is when I'm using the entire bed capacity. The entire honeycomb is covered.

@@AndyBirdBuilds IS there enough margin on the sides to use a magnet with a washer glued to the top?

Andy. My garage in the winter could possibly get down to around zero. Can you add antifreeze to the distilled water to safe guard the chiller? Also you said you take the chiller indoors if it gets cold. Isn’t there water left inside the laser? Or does all the water empty into the chiller when a job is done?

How noticeable are the exhaust fumes/smoke pipes outside the garage? (Assuming you’re in a residential neighborhood) Curious of the impact as we are considering a 100w machine. Thanks!

Great machine, just my second 100w laser myself early Decmember(Omtech 40x 24) but still haven't had a chance to set it up. Next week it will happen. :) Great video

Thanks for the video! Have you had any issues with low temperatures in the winter or humidity in the summer in the garage?

You got it! Personally I have not, but I've heard some people do.

Congrats on the new toy. That was a TON of offcuts. Whoa. You’ve been busy.

weird question regarding the chiller. is it a closed loop of water (like a water cooled pc)? if so, whats to keep you from putting radiator coolant in there that withstands the super low temps (plus all of the other advantages like minimum corrosion etc)...? (ps, i have ZERO experience with lasers outside of using some in college just curious)

Some people do this, but the manufacturer doesn't recommend it

Hi Andy, in your video "new shop tour" you mentioned that you can cut 3 complete lanterns per hour on your glowforge laser. Unfortunately you didn't complete the full cut on your tunder laser. So how much does your new 100W laser speed up the complete cut with similar results compared to the glowforge? Double up to 6 per hour? Or is the speed comparable to the glowforge, the main difference is you aren't running your machine to it's maximum capacity?

Yes! We've put this thing through a lot of production. Still running strong!

Great video. Is there a jig available that can be used in the upper left corner so that you are always indexing to that spot instead of just eyeballing the placement? Thanks.

For my laser I cut out an l shaped square. It fits against the top and side. Just snug up your work piece to it.

Did anyone notice the "crumbs" in the door when he went to close it back up from cleaning out the tray? What was that giraffe/camel-looking thing in the lip of the door? @8:43 😀

Hobbyists should not buy expensive laser machines for several reasons, but one major reason. The gas insider laser tubes leaks out over time (known as "outgassing") even if not used. Outgassing results in a reduction of output, and over time the tube will need to be replaced even if it sits idle most of the time. The worst thing a hobbyist can do is to invest in equipment that requires periodic cash outlays just to keep it running.

Well people always spend more on hobbies and don’t usually worry about cost since most hobbies are for fun not necessarily profit

As nice as this laser is I'll stick with my Speedy 300 by Trotec. Very happy with it despite it being 20 watts less than this one but still a VERY competent machine for my needs. Congrats on the laser and looking forward to seeing what you create with it!
