Since you won't see it, with the flesh side of the strap, you can make your life a little bit easier when keeping them aligned for stitching by making a mark with a pen to show where it's supposed to be at the time of punching your stitch holes. It won't be seen after you finish assembling it but it makes it a lot easier to keep track of the specific point you have the holes punched at on the strap

hi ive tried making these, but when I print out the sizing is off? 2.5inches meets ur 2 inches. I was out the whole way. In another lock down trying to make stuff with no tools..sadly. Id love to get those forks to make holes evenly. Here in Aus Adelaide , I can't find those forks u der $100 for a set. Hard when no money coming in..😏

@@Jlayism yes I mean, i learned how to stitch the same way with him but the stitch is neat on on one side, and not on the other side. I wonder what Im doing wrong.

@@onetwoflowerz660 best things to check for, your chisels need to be nice and sharp and used on a solid, no-bounce surface (heavy scrap leather on marble or other solid work surface). If they are dull it will cause a blow-out instead of a slit upon exit. A chisel with more prongs will give you a straighter line, and be sure the chisel is 90 degrees to the leather with each blow of the mallet. Overlap the last two prongs with previously punched holes. Hope some of that helps, I feel like you probably already knew most of it. 🙂
