I've seen one screen levels with nothing but a goomba and a flagpole with sub 50% clear rates so don't underestimate people's ability to suck harder than imaginable thus lowering the clear rates.

But I think Ryu had the technique down as that crouch jump is slow-falling so if you hit the red blocks you should always be able to land on the blue and not into the pit. And the setup to start the ON/OFF cycle has to be close to the pipe to be started, so that's why using the POW just at the beginning of the rooms locks it.

@@EvilNecroid Basically, every room has a setup with a shell that starts the ON/OFF loop using a shell. This setup is always at the beginning of each room so it loads with mario entering. In an earlier room you obtain a pow, which makes a buzz sound if used, as you are supposed to stand on it to enter a door, and not use it. Ryu managed to keep it using a P switch to stand on instead (way harder). Then he used that pow at the beginning of a room, killing the shell that does the ON/OFF loop, and producing the buzz sound (from the POW block). Thus it's not anti-cheese, just a crazy coincidence.

That anti-POW mechanism wasn't intentionally added. Ryu just killed the offscreen mechanism that was triggering the constant On/Off toggle.

The sound effect is on the pow. I think the creator put the sound because you weren't supposed to throw the POW, but to use it to enter the door. As anonymous said, the "anticheese" seems unintended and the sound effect was intended but probably for a different room.

The best part is how Ryukahr goes out of his way to make the easy, boring levels still seem threatening. Like 9:16 Hard Castle, he's in danger only maybe once or twice, but plays hard and loose with danger, pretending like he needs longer to time a swing, or that shots are closer than they should be. Combined with the editing cutting the level into snippets of melodrama and drama, this is a great video, and Ryu's team always delivers quality content.
