2:53 We had the same kind of VHS recorder when I was young. My dad used it to record himself bowling. A few years ago I used the eye piece to make an infrared night vision optical monocular. I used the rectangular piece to hold the IR LEDs and inserted a mini-camera in it. It worked great, except I used a mouse clicker/button as the on/off switch....they never really turn off, so it drains the batteries. I just need to swap out that switch.
