The one thing I have notice with planted tanks is that the LED manufactures are so far behind the Saltwater lighting people. This is 10 years ago tech on a saltwater lighting system. Two star should already have a WiFi phone control app that does all this for you. In saltwater This would even be an issue as they couldn’t even sell a light that you had to buy an extra box to do this.

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but this is different to my other dimmer so I want to make sure I set this one correctly - the 'ramp up / down' rate is directly related to the time you set before and after? So, for example, if I have 0% at 08:00 and 100% at 08:01, that would mean the light ramps up from 0 to 100 over the space of one minute; whereas if I have 0% at 08:00 and 100% at 12:00, it would ramp up from 0 to 100 very gradually over a 4 hour period? Hope that makes sense?? The dimmer I currently use only have preset 'ramp' periods of 15, 30, or 60 minutes I believe.

Hello Jurjis, one important question for co2 users. According to your time cycle what is the best time to set the timer to start/close the the co2 ? Thanks and keep up the great work!!
@GeezerTuber5 жыл бұрын
If the plants are photosynthesizing, they need CO2, otherwise they just need oxygen. I'd have the light lag the co2 just a bit so the co2 has time to build up before the lights fire on. I'd also stop the co2 before the lights go off for the same reason. If the lights are less than 10% on, you're probably not photosynthesizing much, so I wouldn't count the first and last periods of the day either.

Nerijus Adomaitis I’ve got the Bluetooth Chihiros dimmer and although I love the smartphone Bluetooth function, this product is not that great : the user interface is terrible and there is no ipad specific version to solve that problem. There is no smooth dimming, only incremental steps, the clock does not seem to change to summer time and it will offset over time (10 minutes or so a month). It also stopped working one day and simply didn’t start the lights for some reason. I had to set it back up to get it to work. It does work but comes with a lot of caveats.
@nerijusadomaitis1125 жыл бұрын
@@M0rb Well, its not perfect,I know, but I like it much more then the old version. Especially because both dimmers are well hidden behind my aquarium and if I have to switch the light at night or so it's just enough to press the button on my phone, but not try to find the controller behind the aquarium. Mine does smooth dimming. I can't see any difference between old and new then it comes to dimming. You might have to update software or something. It synchronizes the time every time you open the chihiros app, same with the summer time.

@@JurijsJutjajevs Thanks so much for the comment. I have had great difficultly finding anything on google, ebay or just in general in Australia. I bought one that is commonly sold out of China on ebay AU, but it's pretty ineffective after I tried it out. Didn't allow brightness adjustment in the ramp mode, only manual and the clock resets on power loss and can only be set via a factory reset. Seems a bit silly. I can get the one in your video via the amazon link which is great! I will have to make my own adapter though as my Beamswork light uses a 4 pin plug for the light itself but it's just a 12v unit with it's own controller for the different channel modes, hence why it has more than 2 pins, but I will just wire all the channels together as I only use the full spectrum mode anyway. I have a low tech tank I am still figuring out as I go with axolotls. This will solve two problems, algae which was too much light from my old non adjustable light and the other is the axolotls do not appreciate the light suddenly come on haha.

@@JurijsJutjajevs Mine arrived, just about to program it. I had to make a custom barrel jack to 4 pin mini DC LED connector that my Beamswork light uses. Works now with the S2 Pro. Regarding the clock, it does keep the time with power off for quite a few hours, but if you leave the power disconnected overnight, it does drift out a lot, mine was 40 min out but it doesn't reset per se. So I guess it has a capacitor or something inside to keep the clock running properly for a good few hours, very handy for intermittent electricity supplies. I used the Photone app to calibrate the timer against my current built in dimmer timer to a known good light level, it came our as 67% which on the old timer was 2 levels down from full power, it ran 8 hours. I am trying 9am to 5pm at 67% as it is currently, but adding in 100% for 1 hour centred on 1pm. And 1% ramp 1 hour before and after the main light curve. I have a low tech cold tank, and algae was a huge issue with my old EA light, at the current setup with the Beamswork Vivo light, I am on the verge of algae, mostly diatom and very slight green hair fuzz but it could be the diatom as it's not very green. I need way more plant mass though and to change my substrate which is causing me a lot of issues. Anyway, I hope this 1 hour boost will help with some of the plant stem elongation and still not trigger algae. I'll post an update in a few weeks.

Hi Jurijs, great vid! Unfortunately the adapter seems to be not included anymore (ordered two boxes from the Amazon DE affiliate link). It works with my TS 600s's, but it took quite some force to plug them in.
@nerdbert5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jurijs, this is highly appreciated! I'll use the adapters as soon as they arrive. After some days of fiddling with this device I'm very impressed by its overall performance and usability. I originally bought a TC420 for the same job and never got it running because of all the hurdles involved (cutting cables, Windows, Mini-CD and the thought that I'd need the software at least twice a year to change the clock...). This is so much better from a usability point of view and it also delivers performance wise.

I had the same thing happen to me just NOW!!! I think that it does not support high volt current. It is probably compatible with low voltage power supply. Also it destroyed my LED lamp :P

I have that controller but it doesn't come with that adapter and i would like to know what is the size of the tip of that adapter because my controler doesn't connect to my Twinstar 120b, it won't go in and i don't know if the tip is suppost to be 5.5mm x 2.5mm or 5.5mm x 2.1.

I’ve been able to force connect (try at own risk) or see pinned comment and description for link for that connector

This is an excellent light and a very cool smart control! I would like your guidelines about my all-new Fluval Aquasky v.2.0 My tank is fully planted with easy and medium plants. I found out that something like your timeline schedule seems a nice start (at least for a week to see how my plats will react). I can control RGB plus White in an up to 10 points schedule. I would love to have a piece of advice! Keep up the good work and do aqua scaping!! Best, Konstantinos

Hi, I bought one of these, but it didn't work well, the brightness change randomly. There is a way to reset manually?

Have you checked all 8 parameters?
@nhsguerreiro3 жыл бұрын
@@JurijsJutjajevs yes, i set it all several times, but as soon I change the programming to auto it decreases the power randomly. I set mine just like you did in the video, but instead to be at 50 it goes to 39. Or it is set to be in 100 goes to 49 or other number. I'm considering buy another one if I can't reset. By the way, I love all of yours videos. You create just perfect layouts.

I recently bought a Twinstar 1200SP light. I notice that the exact middle/center of the light does not get lit. It seems like either there are no LEDs in the exact center or my light is faulty. I will really appreciate if you can check your 1200SP model and let me know if you notice the same. I do notice a similar thing around the 12 minute mark in the video where you show the light from underneath, but I am not sure.
@JurijsJutjajevs5 жыл бұрын
the 1200sp is basically 2x 600sp in one housing - there is a slight gap in the middle. you can open the screws on one side carefully (no cable side) and slide out the diffuser panel and you will see led

Jurijs Jutjajevs Thank you for checking. I am glad that my light is not faulty.

Looks neat! What is the reason for avoiding longer daily lightning periods (>8 h) in planted aquariums?

algae
@leoscapecarl5 жыл бұрын
@@HAlves-ip9cn Yes, but was looking for an answer explaining why
@leoscapecarl5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jurijs! Must be something like that I imagine. Plants and algae may have different circadian rhythms, where at some point during the photoperiod plants stop their photosynthesis whereas algae continues to grow. May be dependent on plant species as well.
@leoscapecarl5 жыл бұрын
Guess the recommended daily lightning period comes from experience and is something that would be difficult to measure in an experiment.

dear jurijs, in tropical countries day to night and viceversa isnt as slow as here in europe but its very fast night or day, so i would dimm from day to night and from night to day faster, but i would rather mimic weather changes, grom sunny to rainy and thinder, changing intensity during the day, also not always extreme, some times more some times less as in tropical countries weather is more stable, i did set up my dimmer imitting tropical light, day to night ub 10 minutes, yyour settings are too european, i hope you understand what i mean, you will see in tropical coutries, it wont get dark suddenly as switching off the light, but it will get dark very fast, not slowly as in europe
@JurijsJutjajevs4 жыл бұрын
My settings is not supposed to mimic realistic day night cycle. Only a smooth transition and ambient light between main light cycle and when the light goes off

So with this schedule the lights are at 25% or more for 10 hrs and on for a total of 16 hrs. Are you not concerned about algae growth while running at the lower intensities for such an extended period of time?
