I hope one day I could visit Green Aqua and personally thanks Balázs, Tamás, Viktor, Atilla and all the Green Aqua staff for the positive impact this channel (and aquascaping) has been making in my life since 2020. Cheers from this brazillian supporter of yours (Professor Klebber).

The best explanation I've ever heard. Thanks a lot for this. Now, I know which level is my lights. I have a Twinstar C II Line and ONF Flat Nano. Those are entry level lights, but I'm very happy and plants grow well. Cheers pal. Looking forward to the next episode.

A few weeks ago I bought two twinstar B line 30 lights for my Fluval 57L aquarium. I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money as it is my first scape, but I knew the light I was using before wasn't really good. Good soil, good fertilizer, good flow and CO2 on a good level but still not really good growth. But now after a few weeks of new lightning the aquarium exploded with growth and the plants pairl like crazy. 1 light wasn't enough but a pair of them does it really well and is still cheap compared to other lights.

Such a nice video. And what beautiful tanks. I had my first aquaria about 30 years ago and had paused this activity for the last 10 years. It's mind-blowing how these things have been evolving! I understand that this is basic info, but very useful for an old man like me. Thanks!

Tommy the magician🤣💡 Lighting is always an interesting subject! Right now, I'm using very budget and cost-effective lighting. They work okay on my low tech simple planted tanks!! I'm striving for a high-tech "Green Aqua" tank someday😁 and the ability to grow some more specialized and carpeting plants!!👍💚 Great points to consider!! Thank you for explaining lumens and LEDs. The ones I use right now, I get off of Amazon they run 1700 lumens and 6500 Kelvin they do have adjustable red, blue and white lights. But they're very cheap and I know they're not going to last long!! Thanks for taking the time to explain all the individual lights and their features and who manufactures them!! The ADA and Twin Star lights are some I've been considering 👍 Great video and great information Tommy!! Thank you again for sharing with us!! I hope you guys have a very blessed and beautiful day! 👍🌿🐟🌿💚

Just want to say that this is really a helpful video especially for people like me who thinks "as long as its bright, it should be fine". It gives good insights on how to choose a light without going really microscopic on the topic. I dont get why other people cry in the comments because a certain topic about the lights are not discussed elaborately knowing that there are a lot of details and intricacies to this. A good recommendation for a more specific topic for a future video is good, but some of the comments here are plain rude. I mean dont expect that all questions about aquarium lights can be answered in one video. Thats not possible. Keep it up Green Aqua!

@@GreenAquaShop obviously there are disagreeing opinions everywhere, but I would argue that asking your wallet is good advice. If you can afford to spend hundreds on a light, then that’s a good route to go. You are sure to get great results.. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get amazing results from $25 worth of LED flood lights. Pretty sure MD doesn’t spend much on lighting and has some of the nicest tanks I’ve seen. The best part of a hobby is how many different ways you can do the same thing.
@GreenAquaShop

The point of the video was to bring closer the reality with these lights. Would be great to have a universal marking on the lights so we can compare them better. But there aren't any. So you may buy something which will never work with your 60-80cm deep tank for example.

I work in the morning so I arrive home at 15:00, I would like to enjoy my aquarium from 15 to 22 for example and here comes my problem. I have a pretty lightened dining room, even if the sun doesn’t hit directly the aquarium, the room is quite bright... my question is: would it be a problem to keep off the lights until 15:00 even if there is a bit of light in the room from 8:00 to that moment? Would it cause an algae problem or an stressed plants issue? Thank you very much! Keep doing these wonderful videos!

Thanks for video. Very helpful for me, becouse i will soon make a new akva tank with many of plants, this help me choose the right one. Little correction : 14:28 ,, Twinstar B line is NOT white LED, its described like RGB LED (i have one :-), actualy its WRGB - it have white leds too (some of lights are WRB - white, red, blue, some RGB - without white, some WRG - white, red, green) but its true, you cannot set individual color channels on Twinstar Line B. Iam from Czech republic but i hope, that I will look at your store in person. Hopefully in the summer I will find some time for a little motorcycle ride. I really admire your work and you are a great inspiration and helper for me. Thanks for that.

I know that you guys cant possibly cover, or expect to stock every light in the market, but i bought a Finnex 24/7 Planted light for 2 different tanks, and they work absolutely wonderfully. I have had 4 different scapes under them, all 4 flourished, 3 of which were no co2 injection, one of my current scapes is being injected with co2. This light cost me around $85 dollars at the time, i think they have come up in price to around $100, but i would pay that again if i were to setup another tank. The 24 hour cycle is fully adjustable, i run about 12 hours on, with the first 2 or three hours as a gradual ramp up to 10 o'clock when the light is on full power, then around 3 it begins to ramp back down. In the evening it sits at avery low "Moon light setting". Morning starts at 6 am, with a nice redish "Sunrise color". RGB, and the 24 hour cycle is adjusted via a remote. I wish that they had an app controlled one, but i am fine with the remotes. Just one that i think deserves a bit of praise as i have been running mine for about 2 years now, and it is quite impressive still when i watch the preview of my 24 hour cycle how well it controls the lighting, and then when it is on at MAX its stunningly bright. My one real complaint with it would be that the remote has to be pointed DIRECTLY at the sensor which if your sitting in front of the tank making time and lighting adjustments can be a bit finicky but i have found once you get past this, the light is phenomenal. If in the next 3 to 5 years it dies, i will certainly be ordering a new one. Just something to consider.

Best video so far not biased on any name in particular just facts and useful information and tips. I think I’m going to buy the Chihiros WRGB II LED (Built-in Bluetooth) WRGBII 120 since I have a 60 gallon tank. Can this work on a rimmed tank?

Thank you for the informative comparison. You stated that you run your lights at 100% from the beginning. It looks as your lights are also hung high above your scapes. Could you share your PAR levels? Thank you!

Thanks ! Great video again, and it helps a lot ! I just have a concern, as many led light are really powerful, I was wondering if you are using every light at 100% of their power no matter the tank, or if you adjust the maximum accordingly to the category of plants you are using ?

well depends if you get algae problems. Less intencity and lenghts in lighting means less algae most of the time.

Nice introduction to current lights on the market. Though I think saying "this is for beginners, this is for mid level, and this is for advanced aquascapers " falls a little short on useful information. The thing is that people buy according to their budget and what's available and not according to their level of skill. I know I do. You mention light settings on Chihiros that may not be most optimal for plants. And I say: "Oh cool! That's the question that bugs me since I bought this light! And you say: "Thank you for watching! See you next time!" A more in-depth info on this would be great.

It's a lot of information but it's hardly useful. It's especially info overload for newbies which are the target audience here. Being one myself, I just want a decently priced light that will grow my plants. I don't need some HD shit. I just need something that will work and something that is affordable. This video didn't help whatsoever.

Hopefully, you will find the info you're looking for. 👍 If you only use the categorization from this one you will be fine. You do not need other things like Par, Lux etc as this confuses you.

@@GreenAquaShop Seems like a back handed/condescending kind of comment to me. Maybe you'd like to choose a better title for your video that isn't entirely misleading. You know, click bait. Something along the lines of 'the inner workings of your light fixtures' instead of saying you're going to help people choose the best of the best lighting which you absolutely didn't do. At first this looked like it was going to be a comparison of the lights, the brands, what was overpriced garbage to stay away from and what you should ultimately look for in your price point and quickly turned into 'look at this, this exists, let me give you an infomercial about light itself instead of telling you anything about any of the products you actually came to know about'. It's asinine to be like 'you don't have to use the stuff that confuses you'. That's not what it's about. It's about the fact that we were very much misled into thinking you were basically going to do a review of the best products to use which turned into a history lesson on the origin of aquarium lighting and how the light itself worked. Cool, not what we asked for though. You did the bare minimum to talk about any of the products except for the very much realistically out of reach ones for the average person unless you just have money coming out your ass. Most of all I'm upset I wasted my time watching it thinking it would actually help, losing sleep for work over click bait. I mean God forbid I want to hear about what I came here for based on the title. Not cool, dude. If you wanted to make a comprehensive guide on the inner machinisms of light, cool, do it, but not under the guise of helping people choose the best lighting for their need and price point which is what people literally came for.

OK, people, chill. :) No need to lecture us. We get the message, and actually many team members are answering these comments. Tommy is not one of them, btw. I'm Balazs, just to make things clear. We try our best when we do these videos, and sometimes our best is not enough, especially when you have to present a huge variety of products. This channel squeezes in as much info an entertainment into these videos as possible, but please don't expect us to give you customised advice in them. Your local fish-shop would do. If you live in Europe and wish to order from Green Aqua for example, and you drop us a mail to our regular customer support line, or you call us, we'll be happy to listen to what you need, what kind of tank you have and what is your tech that supports that tank, and then we'll be able to give you 2-3 options you can choose from. Another possibility: for example if you have a 60p tank, you can just look up the Green Aqua website's lights section and filter accordingly, look at the prices, remember the types of lights mentioned in the video to be able to categorise the lights you see on the website, and you'll be able to make a decision without a question. Peace.

@@GreenAquaShop It's not lecturing just to share valid criticism just because you may not agree. That is the point of the ability to comment on a public platform on the internet. I don't care who is responding, the message can be passed on although I know it most likely won't. Nobody was asking for specific, tailored information. Doing simple product reviews shouldn't be that hard of a concept to understand and has nothing to do with asking for highly fine tuned information. People look to those experienced in the industry for advice on products that work and products to avoid, even if it's all just personal preference, so that they might be able to make a more informed decision before making a purchase. A lot of these things are highly expensive and you won't know if it really does anything for you or actually harms you until it's probably too late to get your money back. Now, for the sake of clarity, I personally am in the market for planted betta tanks, looking for lights that work well enough for plants to grow but ones that don't bother my betta. Something that's decently priced. There's so much back and forth about every little thing in this hobby that I question why I got into it, but I do it for my fish because I want them to have the best life I can afford to give them. I probably over paid already just on substrate, but I've already spent $75 alone on fluval substrate after spending a few weeks in debate on substrates and I'm contemplating 'pool filter sand', as I've been recommended, for some aesthetic difference because it's relatively cheap and I've heard nothing negative about it. It takes longer than it should to make decisions on every little thing because there are so many worrying, negative comments about fish deaths involving products and I just need to be done worrying about it. It seems like almost no one agrees on anything in this industry so it's frustrating to not get seemingly simple answers for weeks on end. I have two jobs, this shouldn't be stressing me out the way it is.

@@HuuChi93 it depends on your sizes. Chinese Chihiros A series will definitely let you grow plants because it is very powerful leds and they are comparably price comfortable. SDK makes special orders of leds according to your needs and sizes of the aquarium. If you have money buy ONF and ADA those are very good ones. Amazing lights but cost fortune. If aquarium sizes are like Dennerle than get Dennerle leds. Their lights are also very good for aquascaping.

I got Chihiros C301 for my 30cm tanks and A501 for my 50cm community tank. They’re all controlled by Commander1 so they’ll be ON at 12:30 and goes OFF by 8:30 automatically. My question is about the light: I don't see much in the aquascape world for using Fluval Plant 2 lights which I was thinking of buying to replace my Fluval Aquasky.. Do you think Fluval Plant 2 lights are adequate for aquascapes and this size / deep tank? Also why do these lights never seem to be mentioned for aquascapes?
