what i like about how roger looked is that he looked sick. not sick as in cool sick. as in he looks ill because he is. he only had a year or so left before the execution so on top of genuinely having the pirate vibes like pirates from pirates of the Carribean vibes. what we found out in Sabaody is clear from how Roger looked here.

It's hard not to tear up watching this trailer. I've watched it a thosuand times already. Watch One Piece be the first truly great anime adaptation. Blows my mind considering it should be one of the absolute hardest to translate. Just goes to show what an impact having actual passion behind a project can have. I actually REALLY love some of the changes they made. It looks like they put Arlong in both Buggy's circus tent and baratie to basically make him the overarching, looming threat of the entire series. It's like a longer, more in depth way of doing the scene in the manga of Nami being worried seeing Arlong's poster but throughout the entire series! DOPE change for this adaptation!

I'm glad that you guys liked Arlong because it makes me hopeful too that he'll grow on me because right now he doesn't look intimidating at all without being ripped and 8'7" like in the anime/manga. I also thought they should've gone the CG route at first and made him bigger, but there's many ways that could've gone wrong and looked too unnatural, so this is probably better. His look is starting to grow on me.

@@jackroberts2704 Honestly I think they could've easily done the CGI to an amazing level. Like think of Thanos in in the Infinity war and Endgame. He was also a large antagonist, definitely 8' or more. But it looked phenomenal. I wish they would've tried something like that. But nonetheless, if everything else and the writing is 10/10, I'm sure it'll grow on everyone

@brookstrawhat I was also thinking Thanos, I just don't know if they'd have the budget. He could definitely be a little bigger, but it makes sense that they wouldn't go with actual height. Even Crocodile is around 8 ft. They'd probably have to make a lot of characters shorter just so it doesn't look ridiculous. I could see them doing actual size Kuma and Moria if it was CG though since they're not average looking humans.

It’s one thing to see the cast together and see how amazing their bond is… then it’s a completely different thing to see them all together in costume and in character and watching them interact is just incredible. The straw hats felt so natural and that’s something you can’t just pay actors to do, they have so much amazing chemistry and I can feel it there on screen. The Easter Eggs were mind blowing. My whole family watches One Piece (my mom is 73 this coming Saturday and she just got to Wano) and even she was getting excited over all the little things. Like all the “attraction signs” all over Arlong Park to make it feel more like Sabaody Park. Merry was such a risk but they literally pulled that man off the page, and Kuro’s creepy Freddy Kruger blade fingers sprouting from behind him was 👌✨ Kaya’s garden with the topiaries of sea horses feels so right, the super campy and dramatic big top for Buggy and his huge personality is spot on, Zeff’s ship crashing into the cruise ship Sanji was on in the storm AND ZEFF ON THE GROUND WHILE SANJI IS FIGHTING KUROOBI ON THE BARATIE… the more I watch it the more I see and understand and it’s getting more and more hype.

The trailer looks amazing! I love Luffy's accent. It gives him that hint of naivety that is adorable people's accents have when they speak a language that isnt their native one. It compliments him so well, and i think brings out the character in this live action adaption even more than we couldve hoped for. I cannot wait for this. 🙂

I love how they did Luffy's character in this. The anime/manga version, for the purpose of comedy, they had him be so exaggeratedly stupid and with no social awarness, that it was hard to see why anyone would follow him. But this live action version, is how I think Oda always saw luffy. This Luffy makes sense. This Lufffy I can see why people would follow him to the ends of the earth. They took the the parts that made him endearing in the anime (such as a continuous playfull attitude), and made him relatable.

Battle Angel Alita and Rurouni Kenshin live-action adaptations already broke that curse, they showed how a good anime adaption could be made, One Piece seems to be building up on that and hopefully it will become the norm and standard by which all future anime adaptions will be judged (though not all anime/manga could be adapted to live-action nor should it be).

Shanks looks amazing! I really hope he says the "put your life on the line" line. For those of you who have never heard of Peter Gadiot who is playing Shanks, he was in Queen of the South. I highly recommend it. He is fantastic in it. And Buggy looks great too. The dude playing him was in Agents of S.H.I.E.LD. I don’t know who is playing Roger but he might as well be Johnny Depp. You can even see Dragon in his green cloak on the right in that shot looking up at the execution platform at the trailer's 7 second mark. And I think we see Bellemere too. I think she is the female Marine in dark blue we see running at 26 seconds into the trailer. It looks like Arlong is at Buggy's big top and Baratie. I'm going to guess that he is tracking Nami and he catches up to them at Baratie. Nami saying “You’ll have the excuse them, they're idiots" is to Arlong and she is trying to spare their lives as she betrays them. I was wondering if there were going to reference to things that aren't referenced in the original East Blue manga like the other supernovas & it looked like I was right because we see a reference to Foxy, Bellamy & Cavendish. They weren’t referenced in the original East Blue Saga. My only complaints are that I’m not sure if I'm a fan of Luffy naming the crew himself. He doesn’t think that far ahead. Unless they give him a line where he makes it clear he came up with it on the spot. The other thing that we are two trailers in and all Usopp has said “hit the deck”. It’s probably not on purpose but he’s a main character.

The trailer looks great and the line at the end of the trailer is a total Luffy line and I got a lot of faith with inaki as Luffy. Also love how the DF powers are looking in the trailers, as for the fishman they look as good as you can expect in a live action format. Imo they made the right choice going more practical in the live action. Manga & anime is great for Goda abstract art style, but that style would not work in a live action format just saying. Lastly the only real flaw so far is who they cast as shanks, just base on the trailer he don't look like how shank would look. So I wonder if the show becomes a hit would they recast that role since we won't see him again until the grandline.
