Remember, some of your viewers have a short growing season. We plant as early as we can in the Spring-middle of April for cold weather crops; hot weather vegetables go in by June 1st; then, we pray for rain, run the sprinklers, and hope we get a nice harvest by September 20-our first average frost. We all need greenhouses, and so that is one of my goals. Much success with your fall and winter gardens! Thanks for teaching us. 🌱

Just received my Summer Solstice pots and they are g-o-r-geoooous!!! Just high sturdy and I cannot wait to use them for my own fall starts, and for next spring. I love the idea of color coordinating because sometimes I completely forget what is where, so this is awesome!

Hi Jioll, you will love the buttercup squash and the honey nut they are my favourites. The butter cup is dry and sweet and with a little butter its creamy. the honey is just delicious. for a fast soup I blend the butter cup with broth, ginger, garlic salt and black pepper in the Vita Mix. till hot and soup is ready or I put in my smoothies. Enjoy you wi; want to plant more!

I bought a honey nut squash at the farmers market and saved the seeds I have several plants started I like them They’re like mini butternut only sweeter I wish we could do misters but we have very restrictive water rations I’m putting seedlings in a kiddie pool with some water and using shade cloth🥵
@patriciajacques76532 жыл бұрын
Oooh that’s a good idea! (The kiddie pool). I only ever thought of poking holes and planting in them but as a seedling tray that would be awesome! Thanks

That's so funny Jill. I did the same thing with summer plants. Tomatoes in red, peppers in green, squash in another color, and flowers in another. It was so pretty, and I knew instantly what I grabbed.

Hey Jill. Thanks for the links to Bootstrap. I'll be ordering some of your Summer Solstice for flower seedlings next year. I did want to stop by and give you a heads up on your plants. I'm in southcentral MO and I've been seeing an influx of Blister Beetles on first my tomato plants then this morning on my potatoes. They are highly toxic. There's a video here on youtube but I'll be showing them on my channel tomorrow and what I'm doing to combat them. First time I've ever seen them Don't know if it's this heat or what. I also plucked my first baby horn worm this morning. Be safe, Be prepared, Be Blessed!

Love the Honeynut squash, grew some in the spring/summer garden, heads up, Racoons love them, I had about 35 more almost ready for harvest and they carried them all off. ive got more started already!
@nahnisjourney14062 жыл бұрын
OH MY GOODNESS!!! I would have been so upset! I wonder if there is some strong fencing to that you could use around them, with the cattle panel across the top of them to keep the raccoons out. Then, at harvest time, you get to enjoy all of them for yourself. Best wishes!!!

I have just started using green frog fertilizer. Do you have a video on how much and how to use it throughout the growing season? Also, thank you for sharing the different varieties of squash. My summer garden is horrible this year due to the heat, praying my fall garden will produce.
@nahnisjourney14062 жыл бұрын
My summer garden started out beautifully, but like yours, the extreme heat caused it to struggle. As Jill said, it’s time to pull out the old dying plants and install the backup plants or sow some new seeds in there place. Just like Jess, Jill provides so much valuable information. They both make me a better gardener. I also have the Green Frog. I ordered it directly from GreenStalk. I mixed a little in my seed starting soil to germinate my seeds. In only a few days, the seedlings emerged from the soil. I have stated the seedlings indoors to prevent the heat from burning them. They are looking strong and healthy.

Jill, I LOVE your Bootstrap Farmer pots! I know you mostly do limited edition colors, but last year you put out a neutral variety pack, and I didn’t find them until after they sold out. Is there a way to get those pots again, or will I have to wait until you do another “neutral” collection?

Quick question. I am zone 8 and my Buttercup squash are 95 to 100 days. How are you growing yours out? I saw on Johnny seeds they only have like 55 days. My burgess Buttercup are 90 plus days. Wondering your options.
@WhisperingWillowFarm2 жыл бұрын
I don't know what your temps are but if it's too hot then the blooms won't set and produce fruit
@HartsHearthHomestead2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. My main question was how is your buttercup squash have days to mature when I don't and I am warmer than you? And Johnny's seeds say only about 60 days and all other sites say from 90 to 100 days?
@HartsHearthHomestead2 жыл бұрын
Sounds good. However, I only have found 1 Burgess variety thus far and most of the company's selling them are 90 to 100 days regardless. Really close to the frost days we have left.
@steveegbert74292 жыл бұрын
Jill, do you have any trouble bottom watering those using the standard 1020 trays since the inserts don't go all the way to the bottom? I use the shallow trays with mine so the inserts sit flat. I do have to be careful when watering though, it's much easier to make a mess.
