I love that you can realize how broken the system is while also realizing how lucky you are to be able to work passively from home. Working special needs parents are also not OK.

Omg, Lauren. You have helped me so much. I started Mounjaro a year ago because of you. I've lost 102 lbs in a year. Only because I watched your journey. I've enjoyed your blogs so much. I love that you share everything your ups and downs.

Girrrrllll I feel this rant to my core! Here in Ontario, Canada it is currently a 5-10 year waitlist for funding for our ASD kiddos and it is beyond heartbreaking. As a single mom, it's even more-so as I have no one around to help take some of the brunt of this fighting on. This is NOT how it should be. Every system from every government that I have heard of, no matter what country is infuriating. THANK YOU for bringing this up, it is nice to hear someone talking about it that understands! Love you girl! ❤

Absolutely. Full time working parents have really a lot of trouble accessing services as they can’t be on the phone 2-3 hours a day every day. And that’s sometimes what it takes to get services, either through a public system, through insurance, or private pay. It’s really hard.

It is so tough to get help and services for your child. My son is a teenager and he just got his diagnosis but it took like 2 years just to get to this point then we have to do it all again with the school and their protocol. It’s hard to find the strength and energy to go through all this. It’s so annoying and frustrating. But I know I’m the only one who can help my son. It’s nice to know we’re not alone. 😊

Lauren, I hope you see this, because I really need you to hear what an impact you’ve made on me. The day that you announced that you were going on Mounjaro it planted a seed in me and three months later, I had the courage to go to my doctor, and ask for a prescription. I have now lost 80 pounds in one year, my binge eating disorder is mostly under control, and my insulin spikes and drops are all but gone! You are the reason for this, you were my catalyst. If we ever were to meet, I don’t think I could keep it together, I would just sob, because you helped me change my life! I have so much love and admiration for you. Thank you. ❤

I feel ya! I don’t have a special needs child but I have a medically challenged child who has lots of appointments. This month alone we are waiting on 5 drs appointments and we have had so many blood draws etc. I am so blessed to work for a fabulous family and watch their child but it is super flexible. If I worked a 9-5 job I would not have the time to deal with all the doctors and appointments. Hugs to you!!

Lauren, I have a quick questions. I increased my dose to .5mg. When I received the shot it is at the number 4 line. I'm confused as the .25mg were between 2 and 2.5mg, so should I be at 5 on the syringe? I did reach out to the company you and I both use, and the only response I got was "40 unit is 0.5mg". So, I'm reaching out to you as we use the same company. I'm sorry to both you, but I'm just confused on the dosage, and trying to convert it on the syringe. I appreciate any and all help!!

I can relate to your experience. I live in MN and my special needs, autistic children have been failed by the school district and in general the system just sucks. My kids have definitely been lost in the gray area. This is the sad reality for many parents of special needs kids.

Congrats on the 4lbs!! I'm sure you are putting on muscle from all the walking you are doing, so you probably lost more weight than that. Way to go! I'm excited to finally get off the lowest dose. I have one more left, and I can move up. I hope that helps with weight loss as I'm struggling, and think I have lost only about 5lbs in 6 weeks. Thank you again for doing a video!! Hopefully, you will do more!!

I am in Iowa and my autistic child has an easier time getting it through our public school then going through the government or the insurance companies because they don't like to do anything as a matter of fact are wonderful Governor covid Kim Reynolds just basically cut funding more than in half for aea and special needs classrooms and it makes me absolutely sick to my stomach

Yes, that's a banana pepper. At a guess, pick it when it's fully yellow; it looks like it's still a bit greenish, a slight tinge chartreuse. IOW, idk either.... Just use your best judgment.

The F and B word, girl you better take promises to God more serious. I know you can do it. It’s better for your kids to not hear that language. Remember how you felt when you were praying for your Dad. God is forgiving cause he loves us so much. I struggle in many areas and I have people that remind me out of love for a Sister I’m Christ.

Matthew 7 NIV. "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?

@@nicolel.1619 we are to look out for our brothers and sisters. Matthew 18:15-20 read that passage. I also was in know way being mean or judgmental. Having watched her for years I know she is anxious and overthinks like me. So if her Dad got a bad diagnosis she would remember that promise and feel horrible. Plus she will feel proud about making a good change. One that also helps her kids not say those words.

Abbie received the McKay scholarship through the public school system. She went to public school before she received that. Laurens situation is different, Abbie is much older so things are different now. We also receive services through APD which we were on a waiting list for over 8 years. Again, Abbie is 19 so we are much further along in our journey. We paid a lot out of pocket for services for Abbie. It hasn’t always been easy for us either.
