When it comes to someone's life I agree it doesn't matter who they are and what they believe. We should always look out for each other. I was sitting outside of Walmart while a friend went shopping. I noticed a Elderly lady looking around like she was looking for someone that she thought was outside. I noticed she walked to a car and tried to get in but it was locked. I asked If she was looking for someone. She said my husband was parked right here. I asked her what color and kind of car it was she said it was a brown and she didn't know what kind it was. As you know Walmart has two Entrances. I walked to the other side and saw a man close to the Entrance in a Brown car. I asked him if he was waiting on someone and he said his wife. I told him she was over by the other Entrance. He got upset she couldn't remember where he was. The lady just is losing her memory. This was in one of the safest towns in America but in today's world she was easy prey. People still help people they don't know. If you raise your Hood in the Walmart Parking Lot in a few minutes someone will come check on you. That is disappearing because we have so many people moving to our part of Tennessee from Blue States. Our town a few years ago was pretty clean. Now there is trash everywhere.

Many years ago.....waaaaaaay back in the 80s I had a stalker that scared the crap out of me multiple times. Turned out He was wanted for raping and killing multiple women. The police eventually handled it but in the meantime a cop friend of mine gave me a lot of tips. The main one he stressed was to *never* allow yourself to be transported to a secondary location. He said that your chance of surviving drops dramatically if they succeed in moving you to a private location. He told me to yell, scream, fight and that they might get scared, think they're attracting too much attention, or decide your not worth the hassle, and run off. I'll never forget that talk......he said that that kind of criminal *might* kill you when they tried to kidnap you, but they WOULD kill you if they took you to a secondary place.

Omg Andrea that is terrifying. I was advised, in a similar situation though not so full on, to scream every obscenity l can think of, to be really vicious, because at least that will buy a few seconds of surprise that can give you time to get away. And never, ever get in the boot of a car (trunk). Being killed is pretty much a done deal if you do. Best wishes Andrea.

That friend of yours gave you excellent advice. I used to assist in women's self-defense workshops, and we always taught women that. My motto has always been, if I'm ever accosted and they try to get me in a car to transport me, I'm not going down like that. We taught exactly all the things your friend advised. You would be surprised at how many women are too passive to try to defend themselves. This is because most women/young girls were taught to be "nice", so it's hard for them to be assertive and/or aggressive. Hopefully, young girls/women today, are being taught differently. Anyway, I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but glad you are here!

Bingo. I’ve always told my wife and sisters. If you get carjacked , absolutely destroy that side of the vehicle . Floor it and don’t let up. Be crazy. Your chance of surviving the car wreck is better than surviving the abduction. As a guy. If I ever get carjacked I almost feel sorry for the jacker. He won’t ever ride in a car again. He won’t have me trapped with him. He will be trapped in a vehicle with me.

@@faithnyou1732 it’s not a taught thing. It’s fight or flight. It’s in womens nature to flee. Which unfortunately comes across as passive. They’re fleeing inside. Folding in on themselves. You have to make a conscious decision to fight. A lot ( not nearly all ) of men have the opposite reaction. We fight naturally with no conscious decision to do so.

I remember the day the man was arrested. Just by chance he was in Lufkin, a very small East Texas town in the Bible belt. Pictures were in the paper. It was a very big deal that this little town had a very bad serial killer arrested in our town. Way to go to our men in blue. This is also very scary that he was here! But we are on a major highway that comes from Houston so things happen. Like a very expensive stolen Challenger doing 170 from Houston through Lufkin and into the Piney Woods and broke into a thousand pieces. Needless to say the bank robber did not survive. But I saw one of the State Highway Patrol speeding the opposite direction I was going and found out the next day what had happened.

I've watched a lot of MrBallen's videos, he is a great story teller. Check out his life story, it's fairly incredible. He takes over from an old show, Unsolved Mysteries but I think he does it better. From my Mom, who loved true detective stories, I have gotten into those. From my older brother and sister, I got into music. The music I like best is that which tells a story or music just by it's sounds allow you to visualize a story in your head. Even with movies, I like those based on a true story best. Truth often is stranger than fiction. This dude is interesting, the serial killer. He seems to appear clean cut, obviously very intelligent but what blows me away was he was married with a ten year old daughter! What did he tell his wife when he went off on his killing sprees? They didn't say what kind of work he did. Can you imagine his wife getting a new boy friend, "What your ex do?" "Oh, he was a serial killer." I knew a woman who had rented a room to a serial killer. He had been best friends with her husband on the job. They came home and discovered he'd raped their eight year old daughter. Her husband grabbed a shot gun and blew his head off! He went to trial but the jury wouldn't convict him. What bothered my friend Dianne the most was the killer's mother seemed to be such a nice lady. It was only after the killer died did they discover each time the killer took a trip out of town, they'd find the dead body of some little girl who had been kidnapped, raped and then murdered. I do not watch horror films. Real life is scary enough! Dianne said he seemed like a normal, nice guy.

Being brought back to this story because someone liked my previous comment, I do have a little something to add I thought it was a little weird of my Mom to like crime stories so much. I believed they made her a little paranoid, over protective and all that. Watching this over again I can better understand her and she wasn't so weird without reason. From my grandfather we inherited his copy of "Celebrated Criminal Cases of the Century" by Thomas Duke, a classic work which detailed all the Old West outlaws and many more across America most never heard of. Some of the cases were never solved. Jesse James seemed to enjoy killing but brother Frank didn't. While in the Marines, I worked as a guard and many of the guys incarcerated talked to me because they knew I wanted to be a writer and I treated them as fair as the rules allowed. One prisoner in particular was talking about another inmate who was in for stabbing a Captain. The one who did it mistakenly believed the Captain was responsible for his brother's death in Vietnam. He wasn't. Instead of sending him to prison, they sent him to a mental institution. The man was Thomas Hines, who wanted me to write his story in a screenplay. Anyway, the prisoner named Toliver said, "Hines is not crazy, I am. I fought with Hines and he could have killed me but he didn't. If I won, I would have hurt him bad," I enjoy hurting people. I don't know what's wrong with me, but that's the way I am." Usually even Mafia people have a reason, it's money, There was a Mafia hit man nicknamed "The Iceman" who is suspected of killing more "hits" more than anyone else. He also enjoyed killing. He too had no remorse, talking about his murders as if it was a hobby, for fun and profit. These people defy most of the psychologist's theories on their motivation and causation and this is scary.

There is a full length book about this case called American Predator by Maureen Callahan if anyone wants to hear the entire story. It’s available in all formats including audiobook. Good read but not for the squeamish 😲

First of all, I would NEVER work anywhere at night alone!!! No freaking way and the reason is this very thing that happened to this young woman!!! This kind of story has been repeated so many times where a young woman just disappears to never be seen again alive!!! Please young women do NOT take a job where you are alone at night!!! It is way too dangerous in todays world!!! Just dont do it!!!! 😢😢😢

You wonder who you see on the fwy, esp when you travel a lot. During Obamas first term in office, we decided to go to Vegas for New Years. When we checked in, my husband said he heard one of the employees refer to the other, the ‘possibility’ of the President being in town for NYE. Now, he doesn’t mention anything to me the entire time, simply because he was there to hit as many buffets as he possibly could in a 24 hour period. Priorities. Cut to the next day, and after we promise each other to never come to Vegas again during New Years, (apparently whoever plans what spot to set fireworks off at, have zero awareness of who will see them. Cause noone on the Strip can. 🤦🏻‍♀️) We start heading home, I fall asleep and halfway between Baker and Barstow, 5 black escalades, tinted windows FLEW past us. And before my husband could even say a word (APPARENTLY) they were gone. I said how did you know it was him and why isn’t he flying instead of opting to experience the I-15 fwy South, on a Sunday afternoon instead? He said he saw the presidential seal on the corner of one of them/ all of them, don’t quote me, can’t remember. Soooo, years pass. Honestly, since I didn’t witness it, I didn’t feel like it was my ‘tale to tell,’ so to speak. But every time since, and when I remember to, I ask randoms in Vegas, Hey man, was Barack n Michelle here, hanging out on the penny slots in 2000 whatever to ring in New Years? And the answers have ALL been yes. And my other question is where did they stay? I heard it was where my husband heard and where we stayed so many years ago. And every single one of them hits the nail on the head. Anyways. That’s my fwy story. Anybody see anyone on the fwy?

when I was younger we would hear about serial killers more often, then at some point being told about them just stopped. Like it doesnt happen anymore. I do not believe this is true.
