You can look up Van life here on YT. The Sprinters are the best and most reliable of the large vans. If you have the money, get the Meceades over the Dodge, Ford, or Nissan variants.
@automation7295 Жыл бұрын
In Europe, most of these Sprinters are commercial vans, some of them also used as minibuses for kindergartens, schools, etc. How are they cool vans when they not meant to be cool?
@nathanlamont9920 Жыл бұрын
@@automation7295 I'm assuming it is the same for Europe as with America. If you have one of these sprinter vans, there is no reason for you to be broke. I remember seeing an ad on a car sale site here in the UK and they had a Ford Transit that was a camper, really nicely done, looked awesome, ready to go anywhere at any given time. However they had based it off the base model transit so you were paying £70,000 (nearly $85,000 before tax) for a very nice camper with no cruise control, no air conditioning, halogen headlights, plastic steering wheel, basic radio etc. Then I thought to myself "I'd be driving this as much as I would living in it... I'd want it to be a nice drive as well as somewhere nice to stay"

Even though it weighed 10,000 pounds, merging with highway traffic was never a crisis and it averaged 16 mpg on several cross country trips. Add in that it fits in a standard driveway and is HOA friendly because "ooh, it's a Mercedes", the Sprinter makes for an impressive package.

I will say though, to those young people looking to camp and who don’t want to spend too much money like with this, you can absolutely do a long car camp trip in an economy hatchback. I have a Veloster N that my wife and I slept in and lived out of for 11 days on a 3300 mile road trip, staying at KOA Kampgrounds all along the route. We had a flat memory foam bed, cooking supplies, a bag cooler, totes of all our equipment and snacks, and we were even able to hold all that down cleanly and I was able to enjoy all the amazing roads along the PCH from North Oregon to LA, true sporty driving fashion the entire trip.

What a let down of a vehicle in that it's twice as large as a T2 or T3 VW Westfalia, and those are basically the same layout, but can sleep up to 5 in basically the same comfort. Doug, those are quicky AF and you should really find an original mint one to review ('76+ for the T2 or any T3 as they all essentially have the same, IMO best most optimized layout inside. You'll love the quirks! Built in jacks to lift/level, the pop top, pressurized air required for the washer fluid (you pressurize it like a bike tire), bug screens that go over the hatch and windows, louvre windows, attachable tents for more room... The list goes on. They are incredible.

We tried out 3 Sprinter Vans for use at work. We make multiple deliveries per day and often start the day with a heavy load. They handle well and are surprisingly quick but they don't age gracefully. When things start to break parts get really really expensive and many parts can only be acquired through Mercedes and installed at a Mercedes dealer. We've retired one and are now trying a new Ford Van to see if it is any more cost effective.

You're going to spend hours & hours behind the wheel of a vehicle that handles like a hog on ice, drinks diesel fuel like a refinery fire and has a billboard-sized profile - and you think it's inconsequential? The power and acceleration are measured in geologic time. Getting over anything taller than a shadow will be monumental. The mileage & year are a dead giveaway that this getaway van is on a slow road to nowhere. This is an AARP special. Only the retired will have the time to use it.

Why do people on YT comments always compliment other people's cars as if they want to steal it? In the US, when people appreciate other people's cars, it means they just want to steal it.
@Games_and_Music Жыл бұрын
@@automation7295 Why did you copy/paste your comment here? It's not even an accurate reply to what i said, i wasn't complimenting on his car like people did in the other thread, you're just looking for some specific response. I am not a fan of the Carrera GT, but i am happy for him for achieving his dream. I don't wish to steal it, but i can't say that i wouldn't love to have a million dollars (or so) to spend on anything i'd like.

An awesome fact about the swb sprinters is they have the same or very similar footprint to your average half ton pickup truck. So you could daily drive it and park it like it’s a Silverado

As an Amazon driver, my company ditched the Mercedes due to parking brake recalls, so now we run Promasters an Ford. An mainly the CDV versions (think box step vans). I can back those CDV's into just about any driveway that doesn't scrape the overhangs, anywhere. You will NOT notice how big these vans are. They drive like a large SUV for the CDV, or a minivan otherwise. Just pay attention, to the height, an you can place them anywhere.

The diesel heater DOES require electricity. Blower needs power to distribute the heat, otherwise it's pointless. So yeah, that'll drain your battery fairly quick, depending on the battery setup. This vehicle is as seen in the video upgraded with more battery capacity though, so perhaps it lasts longer than one would expect, idk.
