I stay analyzing things that could use a good hoof trimming. E.g. a muddy cracked road. I need to see if there is a defect in that road before buffing out the cracks. I work in a school library. No hoofs around.

So, uh, obviously I'm a total stranger on the internet, and people tend to ask really stupid questions/give really annoying and unhelpful advice to people with chronic issues, but --- have you tried Tetris? There have been some studies, I believe, showing the benefits of playing it for people with PTSD, and I don't know how widely disseminated that information is. Just thought I'd mention it, as weird an idea as it sounds, because I know how sometimes the most random tricks can make a huge difference. Feel free to completely ignore me, of course, and I sincerely apologize if this is something people have told you ad nauseum even if it already hasn't helped.

I’ve been watching your channel for a while, and really appreciate how, in this video, you paused to explain some of the terms you use… Lateral, medial, White-line defect, firing the hoof before the block to dry up oils that might keep the glue from sticking, etc. Thank you, I was never quite able to figure these things out before. I was surprised you didn't clear the dew claw before you started trimming the lateral claw. I saw it and just went "dang that's huge." Don't think I'll be ordering dumplings for awhile though thanks to the "poo dumpling" description of it lol.

I’ve been watching you for sometime now and this is the first trimming I was clinching over it looked so painful. And the she jolted in the shoot not sure if it was from what you were doing or another reason but I jumped. It sure turn out looking much better the I thought it would. I notice you need a lot less of the green glue to hold the block on. Craig used to always run a bead of the old glue around the outside of the block after placing the block on.

I was watching an episode of the Yorkshire Vet. The farmer had an extremely lame cow and she had had a newborn calf, so they called the vet out to her. Poor girl couldn’t put had front left leg down at all. There I was , commenting like an expert, on the state of her overgrown hooves. The vet got a grinder out to trim the medial claw and applied a block. Then she actually removed the whole lateral claw with a wire as it was so badly infected. The cow recovered and the calf thrived. All my knowledge I learned from watching this channel! Thank you Graeme! 😊

2 million!!! Subscribers. Guess I'm not the only person with an odd fascination with the watching you help these animals out. Keep doing what you do I love these videos. To be honest I think half of what originally attracted me to them was the sort of popping a blackhead kind of thing. Because in probably over half your videos you either find some hole or better yet an actual abscess in the hole, and I don't know why but I've always loved blackhead videos so I think that it's probably the same thing that appeals to me about that that draws me to your stuff. That and your pleasant demeanor and you're obvious care for your job / vocation as well as your concern for the animals and I'm a true animal lover so I'm sure there are a number of reasons why I'm drawn to these but it's not just me obviously LOL

Tell us about the dew claws. How do you know how far up you can snip them? Do they grow like a horn with a central blood supply? Or is their origin more like that of the hoof with a knurl of tissue from the carpal/tarsal bones? And their function? To stiffen the wrist/ankle when flexed?
