As. catfishman, catfisherwoman, or a catfisher-whatever-you-indentify-as, there are some chores involved. Buying bait, freezing bait, vacuum sealing bait, and last but not least.. Catching bait. Fishing for bait is fun. It's like catfishing, but easier, and more action. It also can save you lots of $$$, because live bait aint cheap. We set out looking for flatheads on little creeks, but instead, we found some bait fish honey holes.
The little dongs need love too.

Here in Maine, we always say where there are chubs, there are trout. Brook Trout are a staple fish!

Chubs freeze well , and I use them too tip my baby whales in the fall for giant walleyes and stripers , keep as well as sunfish ! And my lord I bought some big suckers in northern Minnesota too fish under bobbers for musky and pike ! And I paid 36.00 per dozen … 😮 . And the rivers are still up over here in Iowa but really fishable … actually about normal being we had 5 years of drought .

Not necessarily way better than blue gill, if there aren’t chub in those waters and take it there 9 out of 10 times they won’t touch it where I live, and we fish trophy blues and flatheads

I live in ontario on the south side lake erie, in our spring fed creeks where the migrating trout spawn in . The species your catching is a creek chub and we use them whole for pike and cut bait for channels and bowfin. I'm enjoying watching your fishing style, I'm a multi species fisherman myself. I live in long point bay on the lake and have fished across the country, 60 yes old with 56 yes experience. Keep your hook sharp 👌

Good video! Here in South Central PA they call them fallfish. They're kind of a staple for catfish bait. We don't have shad around here and they are easy to catch and plentiful. I do pretty well with them in the Potomac. I'll catch 5 or 6 and put them on ice for cut bait the say before I go. Channel rats gobble them up. 👍

That looks like a trout or smallmouth spot, I grew up on a creek just like that size loaded with chubs, smallmouth and trout. FYI Summer ends September 21st. Do yourself a favor go buy a bunch of big bags of fingerling trout at a hatchery or order online and stock that creek.

We use to say fish the largest average of bait fish, or fish the artificial that has the colors and shape of the same bait fish if you wanted to catch the top big meat eaters they're trying to avoid down there in their world.

Hey Josh, the shoe technique I recently saw you use to pull heavy braid from a snag was interesting. I would suggest a handier alternative ..keeping an old heavy leather work glove or 2 in your backpack or bucket. $7.50 for 2 pair (Wells Lamont) on prime. Nothing more annoying than snagging into some inconsiderate knuckleheads 100lb test braid they cut because they weren't smart enough to use a shoe or stick or glove to pull it loose or at least break off at the leader.
