He's not gay but his boyfriend is. these poor men, surrounded by people that hate them. You cannot change your gayness anymore than someone can change being straight. People that say it's a choice are insane. I suggested it to one such person that he simply choose to be be gay then switch back just to show how easy it is. The idea horrified him.

The general consensus in the psychiatric community is that *sexuality is fluid.* Everyone has some degree of *same-sex attraction,* not meaning to say that everyone desires having sex with a same-sex partner. The attraction could be anything from admiring another s/s person’s personality, hair, lifestyle, etc. to wanting to engage in sexual acts with them. About 20 years ago the rate of homosexuality in adult men in the USA was *approx 3 out of 10,* recent studies indicate the rate has risen slightly. The biggest hurdles gay people are faced with are religious *(primarily Christian)* taboos and pressure from family & peer groups. Homosexuality is frequently found in nature where no social pressures to conform exist. For one’s own mental well being it’s far better to thoroughly investigate their s/s desires in a supportive environment before rushing into a heterosexual union. Forcing oneself into such a partnership guarantees a *life of frustration* for everyone involved including any children which may result.

I did this for years!! It's a living nightmare!!! It made me almost drink myself to death, and I lived in a grey world, surrounded by grey things, eating grey food from grey cans. I was so terrified of being an f slur I ruined my entire life. And I'm still gay. So yeah. I kind of wish I hadn't done that. But at least I finally fucking know what it is to feel something for someone. I get that attraction isn't just a calculation of the person's physical attractiveness. It's way deeper than that. I may have made my life so bad and done so many effed up things that I'll never get the chance to have what I really truly want, which is to wake up beside someone whom I love and who loves me. But thems the breaks. I hope anyone who reads this and has even a shadow of a thought they might be gay finds out asap. You'll know lol. It's night and day. Find out quickly and you will understand why people do what they do, and you'll find love. There's truly nothing better.

My ex wife’s sister married the most obviously flamboyantly gay man who was raised extremely conservative and religious. He missed most family functions as he needed to work with his “business partner” and if he did show up he’d always have his business partner with him. Nobody said anything and I was thinking I went crazy until my ex father in law brought it up and I found myself defending their “relationship” as I assume that there had to be an understanding between the woman and her husband. I ended up politely asking her and she said I was crazy and hated me forever more. The level of animosity suggests I’m not far off

Your story isn’t unique. Lots of woman try to find a scapegoat when their (very obviously) gay husband finally comes out. People don’t “turn gay” nor is it something one “chooses,” so ignorant.

That’s fascinating. Also the fact that also you describe him as being flamboyant. Because I’ve often wondered if the stereotypical mannerisms that get associated with gay men, like body language and speech patterns, are learned or inherent. if this guy has reasons to hide his true self, you’d think he wouldn’t be comfortable expressing himself in that way. There’s probably literature or a study done on this, I should go take a look. Thanks for sharing.

I grew up in Utah, as a Mormon. When I came out, I was introduced to sooo much material about "SSA" men that ignored their attractions and made it work with a woman. Mormon's think that when you die you will no longer be tempted in that way, and you will finally be attracted to your wife in the afterlife. You just need to hold on until then.
