Firing THE composer? Of course they had another option, and firing 8% of your staff - some of them being passionate veterans - just before having to nail an expansion is contradictory in itself. Its sad. The group that, i think, needs the vlensing is the managment team who think of nothing but the finances, and yet its the creators who got shafted. My favorite time in destiny was y1 d1, mostly for the fact the world felt mystical and there were some legends. If you saw a exotic, or god knows it dropped for you, it was special. They only did small things, but those events were cool. In y2 and 3 there were some really cool strikes with neat mechanics, but ever since the change to d2 everything feels restricted. The subclass changes were nice, but mechanically the enemies who are above fodder are so restrictive that many years ago i had found new appreciations for simple strikes like the hell pit ogre, the fallen kell on venus, valus taarc, the psion flares, and more. Just a big room with a boss who has one weird gimmick and a few minions, done. No health gates, no orb, no toxic room where you have to enter a specific spot, no special weapons you have to use, no relic that must be used. Also the relics that are used now are SO boring, oh i have a vaiation of the same orb thats been being used for 6 yrs now, wooh. Vs "oh, damn a magical sheild", "oh, cool, a hive knight sword", "oh, cool, a fallen cannon". I know it wont happen, but i wish the final rade would have an amalgamation of different relics that are retreived and carried until the 2nd to last boss where they are all destroyed and, in that final boss moment, there is no BS mechanic, no instant death condition, just a good old no mans land war zone. The kinda thing that was the start of all of it. But we all know its going to end with some penoptese BS.

I've been a Guardian since the D1 Beta, so many years ago. My enthusiasm for the game has not changed in all that time, I've always felt certain that I would stand by Bungie and support them because of the world they created. Did so in D1 during the long droughts between content. Did so in D2 similarly. Sure there were periods where I slowed down how much time I played, sometimes real life pulls you away from doing the things you enjoy. And at certain points I've been happy with Bungie and their stewardship of this universe that we so enjoy, sometimes I've been disappointed or even angry at the choices they make. But I've never been sickened. And what they're doing now is exactly that, sickening. The company that warned other developers about "overdelivering" has shown their true colors after flying a false flag for almost a decade. But the truth will always out. I'm done. My Guardian has suffered many deaths over the past decade, but it wasn't an enemy that dealt the final blow that lead to true death. It was worse than that. It was the one you thought you could trust. I hope others wise up to that before they too find themselves the next in line. Turns out, the real "Destiny killer" has never been another game competing against them, or a competing studio. It's been Bungie the entire time. Good luck to you all. I won't be making it through the portal in the Traveler to finally end the Witness. No story is worth supporting if the cost is what we are witnessing play out in front of our eyes.

What Bungie did yesterday was just low down and dirty. As the financials come in, it gets even worse. Most of the layoffs were done to not have to pay an extra month of insurance on them, and from people who were close to being fully vested shortly. Bungie gets all those shares back now. Bungie just seems to be a dirty company.

Honestly if final shape isn't unequivocally the best piece of content of 2024 on all fronts they could see everything fall apart. I mean firing a bunch of their most well known employees right before the end of the month and the holidays, and doing so before a lot of their employees see their company shares realized? That's some shady business.

It should fall apart this week but too many people are too addicted

I'm absolutely heartbroken. I Stuck with bungie through the low lows and the high highs. Mainly because they treated their devs well and went to bat for them. Now they don't have that safety net from me. I have canceled my pre order for the final shape and deleted destiny 2 off my machine I have tens of thousands of hours combined on destiny. I feel more than upset. I feel betrayed by a friend.

Can't help thinking the delay is to pad out Sony's 24-25 fiscal year. And the Silvatori sacking really pissed me off!

45% down on financials, the debacle of an entire dlc being nothing more than a strand montage...player count is LOW, I get we are at the end of a season BUT its still low. That "don't over deliver" bs management goes by seems to be the reason their finances are screwed but they will never admit it

It's a game that has maintained a permanent frustration. A casino universe that relies on a wonky story with layers of improvisation upon layers of improvisation. It took me 2000 hours to get out and I ain't coming back. We always say, it's just needs something to make it good and we are waiting for that thing to come for 10 years now and it's not coming. Shit start, shit end.

When an acquisition happens the buying company can't make any major changes for the first year these lay offs also happened at naughty dog another sony acquisition

For me it was enough. Price increases in the season of the deep, that's where I left. I'm not planning on going back, unless the final shape will be great. I'm gonna buy it regardless, I want to see the end of the journey for my guardian, but for now my sentiment is that it's gonna be it. Nothing more to look forward to.

I can't believe this, I am actually pissed. His music is my life, my soul, my destiny. This is unbelievable and he was really the only reason I even cared about this game and halo. Like do they not realize how impactful music is to a game? It's what keeps people nostalgic about the times as well as the memories they made with their friends. I'll never forget the destiny 1 opening theme after sitting down with my dad on the couch 10 years ago to play the beta with him. I've literally grown up with this game and his music, so this really might stop me from playing the game after the final shape. I can't believe the man's music I've been wanting to hear live and have gotten through many hard times listening to the Destiny 1 themes. I really hope they do something about this but to be honest if I was in his situation I wouldn't even want to go back after being fired by them.

You people are so out of touch with reality... I mean... he was expensive. The company is losing money... and the "final" destiny expansion is coming. You really hope they do what? about what? That statement doesn't even make sense... They already did something. They laid off staff so the company doesn't go bankrupt. It is what it is. Furthermore... The game is ending "after the final shape." It's literally in the name. So... I hope you DO stop playing after. Honestly, it's so ridiculous how people react to this sort of thing. It happens all the time, every day, in every industry. Companies can't just keep people on payroll for "nostalgia" while going bankrupt.

Ive put my soul into this franchise for the past 8 years. This one hit hard. It sucks for the devs who are actually passionate for the game. The higher ups are the ones screwing with everything. Im going to hold out until final shape, but this actually sucks not just for the playerbase, but for the devs.

I'm currently just riding it out until TFS and then I'm out, but if things take a turn for the better? I'll stick around. And yeah, Destiny can't afford another Lightfall situation imo. If TFS is another Lightfall situation? Hoo boy.

As someone who stopped playing early in Season of the Deep? It's amazing on the other side of the fence. I'm saving so much money, I'm experiencing so many other amazing games, I'm not nips deep in drama and controversy, I'm not drinking as much hard alcohol. Would recommend 10/10.

Didn't sony say there would be no layoffs and spent 1.2 billion in employee retention? Goes to show when a company promises no lay offs its a big asterisk ("*"). Was this done on bungies level or was it highet up the chain?
@Mwblodgett89 Жыл бұрын
The fact they did layoffs in this matter shows how tone deaf the upper management is. They obviously are not the old school bungie we all loved. They just care about the bottom line and filling pockets. Are they really that ignorant that they didn’t think they would have huge backlash from this ?
@Kuhmodo Жыл бұрын
I'm really wondering if I'm going to buy TFS now. I feel like this is a legitimate reason to jump off the wagon because this will DEFINITELY be a different and probably poorer quality game now. I don't know..... Bungie definitely can't afford this anti-marketing/ barely giving any information like previous years. That was built on trust, and it's basically all gone now.

It's pretty sad to see imo, I love the game and its community, I've made lifelong friends through the game and I've also seen them move away from the game as the game moved towards lightfall. As of now I'm riding it out and hoping for something that moved me as much as Forsaken did. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who was dropped and hope they find a company who values them as much as the community once valued bungie

Imo they should have focused on getting right the franchise that makes all their revenue rather than trying to branch into other IPs, because as old and buggy as rhis game is it won't make money forever. We should have been seeing a Destiny 3 before there were even talks about Marathon or anything else they're working on.

They laid off who ever had more benefits, or equity with the company, and they did it a day before the end of the month so the benefits would last a little over two months when they were supposed to have three. I’m not sure on the details

As someone who's played since taken king non stop even through curse of Osiris, with hit after hit since they sunset everything I was fine with the delay of the next dlc hoping they would add another 30th anniversary but now firing at least three of the biggest names in game development like Michael Salvatori, Lorraine Mclees, and liana Rupert, it leaves me just questioning if I should even care anymore. They got rid of the people who made destiny what it is.
