If MMR wasn't designed to make you lose by testing your skill against better players then competitive would be a joke. Playerbases get better, you either keep up or get left behind. Metas shift, you either adapt or get left behind. There will always be someone better. Ranked is for proving your skill.

problem is early stages of ranked there's a lot of people who don't wanna learn and just resort to toxicity. it takes forever to get a win because even if i manage to dominate my teammates don't group or just chase kills all game. early stages of ranked are just straight up casual matches with extra steps.

A: My supports playing like this guy every match, hiding behind me terrified to play the game, refusing to tank any objectives, standing behind me afk leaching. So many players just wander around like zombies waiting for someone else to do something. It's always either that, or one of the countless mentally fragile baby ragers that throw or quit after their first death. It's not impossible to climb out of it, but there are plenty of matches where there's nothing you could do to win.

Brah for real, grinded up to plat 1 and then instantly had 8 games in a row with either a rage quit or multiple teammates going 0-10+ in 15 minutes and now I’m back down to gold. Last night went 20-3 and had 3 teammates go below 3 kills and above 10 deaths jumping in to 1v5 any chance they get and lose. But “eLo HeLl DoEsNt ExIsT”

@@ToderEh This game isn't Team Deathmatch it's all about them objectives. If you're stuck in gold even though you're 20-3 etc. then you should look into shot calling and taking objectives more. It helps to play gods that can solo objectives, such as crit junglers and ADC:s which can easily solo Pyro, and can solo Gold if they have OK lifesteal or are ahead. A lot of MOBA players (not just Smite) have this notion that they have to play the "correct" character in the role, or will immediately lose if they pick a character they are comfortable with just because they are playing against a "hard counter"... truth is if you can get away with playing ADC solo and just kill objectives all game only showing up to teamfights if they are close to gold / fire then DO IT! Winning the game is better than playing King Arthur just because it's "correct". P.S. this starts becoming less true at higher ranks since at those ranks (master+ for Smite, I'd say) playing the "correct" character is important so you don't gimp your team.

I haven't played ranked in a lil while but i swear at lower ranks you run into more people who are absolutely clueless than in unranked conquest. My friend met some dude in ranked and they were playing when i got on so i joined and we were gonna play normal conquest with us 3 but dude said he only plays ranked conquest and was hard stuck in bronze, he played like hours upon hours everyday.

The climb out of these ranks is super annoying though. I was mid starting xp to red. My jung went to where the xp camp spawns with his speed in tow and sat there and auto attacked it. Xp camp wasn't there... We were suppose to meet at red, standard start. He sat in the empty xp camp autoing his speed. I knew right then we were going to lose. And boy did he feed his brains out that game, 1-18, it was amazing to see him not dc during that.

I have yet to see a elo hell game. In my experience the elo hell games are the ones that you get at least one dc on your team or you get that one guy that gets a certain role but refuses to play it AT LEAST 50% of the time.

I honestly don't think a lot of people are really in elo hell. I think it's more of not people not having a good idea of what that even means, whether it be in their own definition or a broader one. I just think it's more mechanical issues, knowing what to do/knowing what not to do, and just wanting to be carried/not being able to play for themselves. That's just me.

Man... I'm pretty new to support. I've only been playing consistently in Conquest for like, 6 weeks. I haven't even touched Ranked because I've felt that I'm not good enough and still have a ton to learn about rotations and warding and builds and all that. But after watching this... I know for a fact I'm a better support than this Terra. Maybe I should hop into Ranked after all.

The sensitivity on console just starts off really low, like absurdly low. So even when people go higher, they think of how far they are moving from the original and not how fast they need to be able to turn and play the game properly. They also smite players have a weird distribution of players like 70-80% bronzes and silvers 10-15% are gold platinum and diamond 10% are master GM. If you didn't notice, that means the middling ranks are actually pretty rare in comparison to the high level ranks.
