I wish Austin would give us the original MSRP of his used and vintage guitars. I understand it would take more time in the production process. However, I think it would be interesting and helpful to the viewer.

He could make the editor do it :)
@MinhTran-lz8nk13 күн бұрын
Definitely interesting but how would it be helpful?
@mikepfeifer368712 күн бұрын
@@MinhTran-lz8nk I think it would be helpful to the “new collector’s”. I think it would be helpful to know how much a particular guitar has gone up in value. This example is purely hypothetical, an 80’s Gibson Sonex sold new for $700, you can buy them today for $800. Probably not the finest collection piece I could buy. The other side of the same coin, the player may look at this as a heck of an opportunity to get a vintage Gibson USA for less than a grand. Look at the early to mid 90’s Les Paul classics. They sold new for $1200-$1400 and now they can catch 3 grand. Why have they gone up so much over the years? The answer to the last question will be left for another day. I happen to fall in the category of player and collector. Some days I am a better collector than player and other days I think I’m a better player. I guess if the truth be known I’m probably not good at either one, LOL. Any way, thank you for the reply, I have enjoyed following up with you. I am going to set up the antenna on this i phone and see if I can pull in The Trogley’s Guitar show!!! Thanks again.

That’s basically what a ESP MX-250 / EXP is. It has an explorer shape but is 0.75 inch or so in each dimension and is noticeably bigger. Unfortunately with the lawsuits tricky and expensive to get hold of them due the big Metallica association

the white gunk embedded in the woodgrain could very well be polishing compound. I had that on 3 of my Gibsons new from factory. Plays like a dream and looks great

I believe that Matthias Jabs from The Scorpions ordered a 3/4 size Explorer from Gibson back in the day. Also, there's a rare "elbow cut" Explorer with a cutaway towards the back of the body that Eric Clapton used.

If the subject comes up, I'll say that I did own an Epiphone Explorer that I purchased at a Guitar Center in Indianapolis in December 2008 and let go of in August 2012. Wasn't because it was not a good model but because it was just taking up space where I live. I would be less inclined to turn loose of this model if it were mine. The lighter weight and reduced propensity to play metal or hard rock against other styles would give it more appeal in my book. Originally, the 1958 modernistic models predated hard rock by 10 years and were intended for blues cats or kittens.
