Thanks for the review, looks like a very powerful little box. Something to note: At 4:12 you are running 272 processes and 4600+ threads. If someone carefully tunes their system you can get to around 100 processes and around 1500-2000 threads. It makes a massive difference believe it or not with game performance. Especially with the 0.1% and 1% lows and overall latency. On my Windows 10 machines I usually have 75 processes upon booting into the system and on my Windows 11 machines around a 100. There are many online and YT guides on this like Chris Titus script, Fr33thy, etc. Just something I thought a lot of people would find useful, especially with these machines.

Honestly I prefer it this way, sodimm is slower and that iGPU is starved for bandwidth. I know there is LPCAMM2 but it is so obscure right now that I honestly prefer soldered ram (it they will go with 7500MHz, if they will go with 6400MHz I may go with sodimm)

@@kerajit The biggest issue I have with it is failure and being forced over a barrel for capacity upgrades.
@kerajit2 ай бұрын
@@Mourning-Sun sure, I understand that, and it is a concern. But for me personally, I prefer to spend a bit extra and get 15% more performance. But yeah, I hope there will be other mini PCs with SO-DIMM.
@pedgarage2 ай бұрын
Why? How often do you upgrade your ram? Buy the 32gb version and by the time it will not be enough anymore it will be time to upgrade the whole unit. Never heard about Ram failures either.
@Spyke_misc2 ай бұрын
@@pedgarage Yeah when they offer a lot of ram on an ok budget, i am fine with it soldered, but ideally yes, lpcamm would be used

cudos fir dropping this! I wasnt expecting 890M in sff so early! atm i think they are outsold to more expensive laptop manufacturers but next year q2 or so i would like to see them barebones sff at 700 usd. Am i too optimistic? Also pumped for stx halo … imagine more than 2x cus 🥵 modern sff should also handle cooling double the tdp

The problem with non-upgradable RAM is that if the RAM goes bad the PC is bricked. That should be a deal breaker.

That's a REALLY impressive 65w chip. I'm not a fan of frame gen but I'd be happy at 1080/30fps for something like RDR2 on a tiny machine/handheld/laptop.

Niche product, but a cool one to see. If you can spare even a little bit more desk space, I recommend building a SFF system instead. For the price this thing costs, you can build a system that is still small, but leagues more powerful. I have one using a 4060LP, I was able to bolt it behind my monitor out of sight. Not to mention it uses discrete parts, meaning it can be upgraded and parts can be sold, so further savings down the line.

Pricing, since it was asked from reddit. Right now you can get a barebones MiniPC from GMK (M5 Pro, has dual 2.5GE) with a 5700U for 219. Adding 2x32GB DDR4 is ~109, then whatever two NVMe drives you want (2TB is around 110/each right now). That puts that older APU SKU build at around 328USD before storage considerations. Since this new prototype has soldered memory but comes with three NVMe slots I would say the OEM should price shift the difference from the 5700U(ram only) -> AI370 from a tray BGA cost to them. Personally if this new unit had dual 2.5G or even 5G networking I would drop 499-549/each on a pair of them. But the OEM needs to also consider the handheld market in their pricing. There is no screen on this mini PC, with the likes of the steamdeck, the Ally Extreme and the Ally X, Legion GO, ..etc its going to be hard to justfy a miniPC against those given the flexibility. Having an ally extreme myself I have no real desire to get a AI370 or anything from the up coming APU gen to replace it. I suggest the OEM to consider what I said about dual Ethernet, maybe linking up with Servethehome as a market segment for homelab and SMB reviews too. Interesting little boxes!

I'm currently running a Minisforum UM780 XTX - 7840HX w/ Radeon 780M. I've got 32 gigs of 5600 MT/s RAM. The much faster RAM of this prototype certainly helps - 32 gigs is my personal minimum. Also, it's got 4 more CUs, and half a generation better RDNA (i've heard somewhere that the +0.5 step is the result of a cooperation with Samsung), so it IS new silicon, but not new enough to call it RDNA4. My current mini also has "AI", but i don't use it - Copilot in an incognito browser window doesn't need an NPU - i don't use/need client-side genML. Why would anyone need 3 M.2 SSDs - do it like Minisforum, and make a hole in the chassis, for an OCuLink port - that's the only reason why one would need 3 M.2 sockets! Who is SOUYO - is this a subsidiary development department of a bigger company which doesn't want to be named - like a burner phone? edit: what SUOYO shouldn't do like Minisforum is their support - if they want to get a foot in the western market door, they need to do better than minisforum. Also, using intel 2.5 gig NICs, instead of Realtek, helps.

Very annoying that no youtube reviews ever show anyone plugging in a remote or cables, like we're just expected to know. What remote do you use? Do you need a pc? Do you need a keyboard and mouse? Are games already installed or do I have to buy the games online somewhere? What cables do I need to plug it in?

Run Senua's Saga: Hellblade II on the mini pc. I think it would get brought down quite heavily but there's some cooking you could do to get it going: 1. Use the optimal/low graphics settings at 1080p with FSR balanced/performance 2. FSR frame-generation mod which works, or even LSFG at 3x interpolation to take fluidity higher. be sure to cap to a couple FPS below whatever the system can handle pre-framegen to get good frame pacing. Considering it's a slow paced game which doesn't care about input lag much, i think we can achieve a good visual show on the minipc. I wonder how Stirix Point Halo will do compared to this. Leaks say up to 40 CUs but even at 32 it would be incredible.
