Staying on speed 5 is never a good idea when you are in really close pitched battles, speed 3 gives you way more time to react. Either way this looks like quite a difficult civil war.

I did this on my second try. The key it to keep the Monarchists alive, take Slesvig early, get to Koln, then hold, do not take Frankfurt, focus on the Nazis, if you focus on the Nazis, you can work on small encirclements, and eventually be able to take out the Monarchists with confidence. The Black Front Typically does not get so strong, try to just balance it, and hold steady. The AI will continuously exhaust themselves, if you hold strong and take your time, by mid to late 37 you'll be in a great position to begin moving. the Marketplace is a good place as well, if you can buy guns, buy them. And sell equipment you don't need. Main thing to use to your advantage is defense. It is hard, but taking it slow incurs no debuffs, speed is not necessary. It becomes easy the longer you hold on to your corner of Germany.

This mod seems very historically accurate. Communists winning a spontaneous civil war in 1936 Germany is less likely than Dream not being a cheater in Minecraft.

Hey Alex, just wanted to rub a bit salt in that wounded pride of yours 😋 After watching your video, I tried the same and won the german kerfuffle on 2 January 1937 as the communists. My secret was not only to disband the army, but also to lend lease all my stuff to Italy (the only nation at war this early). I first hoped I could cancel the lend lease as the Commies, but I couldn't, so it stayed with Italy - however - they were sorta sympathetic to our cause and after some influencing, they agreed to lend lease some guns back to us (later the Soviets would help too)! That was actually the turning point, as it allowed me to build better divisions to attack the Black Front. In my playthrough it paid off to go aggressively to the rivers along the center line and take Western Germany, but not push past Hamburg. This kept the other Nazis in the game. With a few new divisions the Black Front was still not easy, but doable. Anyway, I really like your videos, so all the best 🥰

I did it second try. Just get as many guns and divisions as you can, don't kill the Monarchists, and hold. If you do kill them, make sure you own Berlin at least, otherwise the land goes to whoever owns Berlin I think. Or just make sure whoever owns it can't get to the land when you kill the Monarchists. From there, just do what you would do in the normal civil war, cut off Bavaria. Take it, hold, and advance when you can then on a much easier to manage front. He had a chance to take the south. But he opted to let the Strasserists have it, wrong call.

After seeing your attempts, and someone's reddit post I did this first try. You really need to expand south and west fast, seize the supply depots, don't cap one side too early, so you let the black front split the reich. Constantly repair factories, and build standard infantry divisions constantly so you can push (they have artillery support so I built art even though I ran at a deficit of infantry equipment). Also, repeatedly do the focus Support from the Global Community and also, build CAS. Get stability up by any means possible. I have just over 100 hours in this game and have learnt a lot from you and other youtubers, like Bittersteel. Btw, eventually France sends you 9 volunteers. After stabilizing in the southwest I was able to push towards dresden and Berlin with the standard inf divisions.

1:12 that’s the Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte. it was a german tank designed near the end of world war 2. it was the largest tank every designed. it’s main weapon was a battleship deck gun as seen on the top. behind it, it had over 6 plane engines and 8 anti air points. it’s armor was 600 or more mm thick. it was a beast. if it had been used, it would’ve won any tank battle. but due to its size, it could easily be taken out by bombers.

So I watched this and thought it honestly couldn't be that hard. I am not a very good HOI4 player, been about for a while but far fewer hours than alex and never play multiplayer or keep up to date with meta. I won first try. I expect going in blind I would need to do two or three runs total but to be honest, nothing really surprised me. You just have to only attack when you have local superiority, and prioritise the strongest enemy. I dont understand - I think alex is a fine player but must just get impatient and indecisive about withdrawing/advancing which destroys his entrenchment? The weird thing is I've learned most of my gameplay from alex, maybe a little more from other youtubers but he is an actual part of that community so I expect he learns from them too. I just dont know how he manages to lose 😅
