A little off topic but I love how Rathalos was finally given a proper stream of fire breath attack in rise. It always felt odd to me that Rathian had a unique fire breath attack but Rathalos didn’t until now.

Man these monster animations are so dang cool! MHR has gotten some flack for being a Switch game but you have to give them credit for the monster animations which have always been amazing. I like how Apex Diablos just goes completely apeshit, it’s so epic

Even the slightest nudge or flinch with no armor on is a one shot in master rank and almost a one shot in high rank

Do you think that testing these against Gaismagorm might work better so that every part of a multi hit attack can land assuredly? Or was there trouble with Gaismagorm’s hitbox pushing some monsters away?

Hm. There’s still the issue of some moves not triggering multiple hits if the first hit is detected. Monsters like Magma Almudron suffer from this. Things like risen Teostra and Risen Shagaru also get screwed over compared to things like Jyuratodus. Blood Orange Bishaten doesn’t get multi-hit but Bishaten does. 😢 The less said about Primordial Malzeno not registering enough hits, the better. 💀 Look at what Risen Chameleos gets away with! NORMAL Malzeno!😭 Scorned Magna’s combo at 17:48 behaves very strangely relative to normal Magna’s as well. I guess they didn’t want people using these monsters beat each other up, but come on… Would also be interesting to see the Hazard versions of moves. I know Lucent’s tail slam hits harder and Flaming’s explosion is bigger. This was a really nice reference just to see these moves from above, btw!

The lightning storm does no damage to other monsters because it’s not a calculated attack and instead just perpetually drains Hunter HP in a way that no other monster has any coding for interaction with. It’s the same for Behemoth’s Ecliptic Meteor, Safi’Jiiva’s Sapphire of the Emperor, and Alatreon’s Escaton Judgement.
