Fantastic video history lesson! Basic, short & simple. I'm fascinated with the beginning & evolution of this music I love so much! I came onto the scene in 1982 in San Antonio, so I missed this era. Bad Religion continues, in 2024, to draw large, often sold-out crowds to their concerts. Same with Circle Jerks, though on a smaller scale. Last time I saw them a few months ago Keith Morris said "next time you see the Circle Jerks it will be in support of a new album!" Even Black Flag is touring a lot. I dig their music & ignore their issues.

I love the production on "How Can Hell Be Any Worse?" It just sizzles like the first D.O.A albim.

You seem to be real knowledgeable, if we ever get something wrong, don't be afraid to call us out. PS I am a hot mess without my Adderall so I can relate

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there was only one run of the first 7". Every one of these that has ever been sold on eBay or Discogs only has the etching that says "We're not Bad Religion" on one side and the mistake "Elipses U.R." on the other. Both copies that I've owned had that too. You would think there would have been at least one sold that has the original "You are" etched, but it's not the case. Even Fear's first 7" that had an alleged run of 400 comes up for sale every once in a while.

The last part of this video got me very curious about "Into the Unknown", so I checked it out and...wow! So interesting and unique!! I dare say I like it more than anything else I've ever heard by BR. Does that make me weird?
@SweetJimmyNetwork10 ай бұрын
You are weird for so many reasons. 😜 i had a feeling from the description it would be up your Alley

"Weird" is subjective _and_ largely opinion, so maybe, maybe not. Some thought I was weird to drive from Texas to NJ & NY to see longtime favorites Adrenaline OD play a couple shows in June.

I really like this record, i like SUFFER or GENERATOR too, but their second album was the one every punk hated, Gurwitz found out synthesizers existed. So he made his own version of prog punk. I hated it too, but it was a bold move and career suicide. Somehow,after disbanding,they continued and became punk rock stars. They deserved it, the success of EPITAPH records is a proof. I am not the biggest fan, but hey, they deserved it

All the typical "first" soCal punkrock bands mentioned in the beginning but you left out 3 KEY groups from the same area as Bad Religion - the Dickies, Angry Samoans & Fear. 🗣️

I got into this music in 1983 when someone dared me to go to a Black Flag gig. I've loved the music ever since, but only a year or so ago was introduced to Angry Samoans for the first time ever! Now they've become some of my favorite music of all time!

I guess everything is a commodity now. Even the forgotten history of a long dead scene. As told through record store paperbacks and repackaged for YT. This future sucks @$$.

@@2ribbons447 so how often do you listen to death? Are they your favorite band? I’m curious what you mean by “you people”. Why do you think death should be mentioned? I have Ao many questions, but I already know the answers.
@JMarinelli11 ай бұрын
@@2ribbons447You are correct - the Pistols never played LA. That said, a bunch of LA punks (including Greg Ginn and Keith Morris) flew up to SF to see the final Pistols gig.
