Actually, those were new vocals on the later version - the track from the 3rd TMC album was "Bitter", the middle piece in this song. For those of you that didn't realize, there are three songs here: "Acid" - The haunting intro without vocals "Bitter" - The middle section where the vocals come in. The song changes key slightly between these two parts. "Sad" - The outro section, without vocals. I think this song in its entirety is STILL in my Top 20 favorite songs ever, 25 years later.

@@TheFreekje Imagine how I learned about 4AD~ when I was a teenager there was NO internet HAHA🦍Learned from listening to college radio stations (the best music was from 12am-7am lol), subscribing to magazines (via the mail), inside of some albums would be a booklet or more info...or reading the etched secret messages inscribed on the records (near the center~that smooth, shiny area)..some stores had cassettes..and the holy grail~ record stores!! I'm mean, you had to be into the music for real to learn about the bands/labels. In a way, I feel privileged🖤

I've listened to this collective of musicians under the identifier of this mortal coil my entire life, I'd consider my self lucky to come across another band with half as good music as this mortal coil produced but I won't hold my breath, I think this will always be to me the most beautiful music ever recorded.

Bonobo.... This Mortal Coil would like their chimes back *smiles*.... I think TMC influenced thousands of musicians and producers... you can hear it over The Cure's Plainsong introduction... and all over Memoryhouse... we're truly lucky to have these sumptuous sounds in our lives.
@Fan_Made_Videos13 жыл бұрын
I can't help but think that Peter Jackson's vision for Middle-Earth was influenced by TMC's aesthetic visuals. It's also no coincidence that Elizabeth Frasier contributed to some of her vocals for Elven music.

There were several cave trips I was privileged to have been on in the 80s where this tune ran through my head throughout. Evocative is too gentle a word for it. It is brilliant to this day.

@@christabcook 😊 I spent many years as a caver, explored hundreds, surveyed and mapped several. Some tunes lend themselves to being underground. This is one; Shriekback's "This Big Hush" is another.

This song/video is just pure feeling. I only wish other songs could capture such subtleties of emotion, yearning, melancholy etc as this one so deftly does. Like others here, the tears easily flow with this one.

Coruscating brilliant track about depression and the feelings of being alone. also my fav track from my fav album of last year was "the innocents" by Low ps I agree with the first part of your statement !
