It's hard to see because of how small and transparent the screen is, but you can see Misato's top half (torso, arms, head, and hair) on the far upper left. For her legs, start at the center of the screen and look up and to the right. If you're still having trouble and need a visual reference, just Google image search Misato death.

Remember the liquid-to-solid plastic bakelite from last time? Shinji couldn't get to the Eva untill Unit-01 decided to let him. lol but I understand your frustration with him, believe me. The Mass Production Evas were armed with those weird boat paddle swords which could transform into replicas of the Spear with it's AT Field penetrating properties intact. lol imagine how many people left the cinema thinking that was the end. Also, the scene where Gendo puts his hand inside Rei (lol phrasing) Tristan McAvery (the original ADV Gendo voice actor) did an outtake where he was like "Damnit, I know my keys are in here somewhere..." The virgin Thanos snap vs the Chad Third Impact Maya freaks out when she feels Rei's finger go through her Right at the end there when it goes to the playground that's baaaaaaasically when End of TV happens in the timeline, so before now Shinji was still all fucked up about Kaworu and everything that happened in the latter half of the show.

Lilith merged with Adam (embryo was in Gendo's hand), and so their hybrid (with Lilith dominant) decided to drop the old men for Shinji (Gendo and SEELE split their souls and bodies to control them). Adam was passive because wanted lilin to stay around and had his choice made in episode 24, but became active to calm down Shinji to maintain his ego. Kaworu appeared because Kaworu was Adam's human vessel, it's not Rei shapeshifting like in other cases, but the real article (he also "picked" the first Rei, the scene was hinted back in episode flashback, that's why the first Rei sees him reflected on her eyes, Lilith original desire is Adam). Your AT Field lowers to someone you love. They are shapeshifters beings, so it's not like they have a fixed form but chose the ones Shinji knew them as. Their love for Shinji released them from their constraints and conditioning.

Shinji is a depressed child, he don't wanna go to the Eva beacause is a traumatic experience for him. He is not a hero, or a villain, he is Just a child who hate himself and never have love or affection. Asuka see her self in Shinji, she don't hate him, she hate himself and that is the reason she is like that with him, because Shinji is like the part that she dont want to show. Misato is Just a lonely woman who dont know if be a good mother to Shinji, or Just for her lonely and desesperate company of someone, be a girlfriend who use Shinji to feel better. Ren is fall in love with Shinji, But she dont know what is emotions feels so she is confunsing and Just act for instinct with him when he is in problems or some shit. EVA is Just a therapist anime man, that shit is really hard and is scary how the author shows the depression. Good reaction.

Rei was made by the cells of Yui (Gendo's Wife and Shinji's Mother) Gendo was thinking he could be Adan and Yui could be Eva and they, repoblate the eart after the third impact. All of the "whaaaaat?" reactions turn into it, Gendo, Lilith (the eva crucified), Shinji and Rei with the cells of adan and eva.

If I have to point out, Shinji is a 14 year old boy who has never once received affection or love from someone. He desires romance in his life due to never having to experience it once. A ton of things have happened to Shinji even before the start of Evangelion and it doesn’t help how a heavy burden is placed upon him to prevent the “Third Impact”. In defense of Shinji (for violating Asuka), he had only done this vile action for one reason. That reason is “I need a reason to die”. When he was getting ready for all of this, he didn’t bother trying to stop himself from entering all this madness. He already knew what he was getting into and he chose “to die” but needed a valid reason for himself. He wanted to do something unforgivable enough to where it’s okay for him to disappear. In all aspects, Shinji Ikari is not a good protagonist but in the eyes of someone who can understand what’s going on in his life, he’s not exactly a bad protagonist or person at all. He IS a 14-year old boy after all and is still growing whilst facing such situations that would drive anyone to madness at that age.

At around 19:00 the two of you say "he's got no ego" but you have misunderstood what is meant by "ego" in this context. The "ego" is you. You are your ego. The things about you that exist in reality, the things apart from your base natural desires and your "ideal" self that doesn't exist. Everything that is not part od the "Id" or the "Super-Ego". The "Id" is the parts of you that are your base. Your desire to eat, drink, sleep, breed, etcetera etcetera. The parts of the brain that seeks pleasure, hardwired by evolution to make sure you continue to live and propagate the next generation. The "Ego" is the reality of who you are. Everything that you are. Your personality, your likes and dislikes. Your individuality. The parts of you that make you separate from everyone else. In Evangelion, the Ego is your AT-Field, your Absolute Terror Field. The Light of your Soul. Without it, there would be nothing that separated you from anyone else. Human Instrumentality is the destruction of the Ego. The destruction of the AT-Field. You become the exact same as everyone else. The "Super-Ego" is your fictionalized "Ideal Self". When you say "oh yeah, I'd totally do things differently from Shinji" that isn't your Ego speaking. That's you picturing yourself as your Super-Ego, and saying your ideal self would do things differently. This is false, the reality is you would be exactly like Shinji, if not worse. So, when it is noted that Shinji's Ego "won't last much longer" it's saying that Shinji is going to accept Human Instrumentality to get rid of all his pain.

Tbf we can’t blame shinji especially since he couldn’t get in the Eva cause the hardened red stuff but also the guy was just done with it all. He’s a 15 year old kid who has lived a fucked up like in a post apocalyptic world with no one who gave a shit about him and his father ditched him to go do the Eva project and even then they were not on good terms. Then when he finally has a sense of a family and a real life, school and friends he has to fight to the death in a giant human/mech against aliens that can kill everyone and he can feel all the pain that his Eva does which is understandable for him to no longer want to pilot it and ran away in earlier episodes cause of all the stress and pain it cost to be a pilot for it. Everything then suddenly heads south extremely quickly and all the people who finally appeared as a light in the darkness for him, his loved ones and friends are brutally killed and taken away from him leaving him to spiral deeper into insanity as that self hate and feeling of uselessness eats away at him even more than it has before. If I’m being honest I wouldn’t have been able to do what shinji had to do and I don’t think any of us truly would be able to

You’re entitled to that opinion. I think a lot of people have a strong attachment to the original dub and rightfully so. They grew up with it or were introduced to it first or early on, and those actors did an amazing job. Some side by side comparisons just aren’t fair. However, when we watched, we enjoyed what the Netflix cast did too. Now dialogue changes and story changes are a different story, but we wouldn’t have watched this whole thing if we didn’t like the Netflix cast too. Thanks for watching!

Seeing Shinji suffering is like seeing myself suffer, because at one point in time I was almost exactly like him, especially back in 10th grade when I was bullied to the brink of suicide. I simply cannot tolerate watching Eva. I felt forced to relive my trauma upon viewing it. I’m deathly afraid of it. Twice I had a nightmare where I saw myself as Shinji choking Asuka and starting the Third Impact. I’ve been struggling with this newfound depression ever since. This series is nothing but a bright shining lie. There is no instant cure for depression as so many on KZbin and Reddit claimed and praised this series to be. I was obsessed with the series for over a year to try and outwit the Coronavirus pandemic. It only increased the burden, and kept the memory of my friend’s recent suicide alive. Sometimes I hate myself because I fail to appreciate this series which people treat larger than life, because of how much pain it resurfaces. Watching the End of Evangelion was like peering into a broken mirror, and I was viewing the hell I would’ve put myself through had things turned out differently, had I decided to give up living. It still haunts me to this day. I sought emotional refuge in the Evangelion fandom on Discord. Because the series addresses the cost of trauma I hoped they would take me seriously. They didn’t. Instead they mocked my mental health and even created a rumor of my past to get me banned off almost all the servers, and spiraling me further down the rabbit hole. Sometimes I hate myself because I fail to appreciate what so many have claimed cured them of their depression. I’ve faced my fears, only to gain more pain.

Its funny, shinji is actually one of my fav anime characters precisely BECAUSE he doesnt get in the robot (which is itself an inaccurate meme since he always DOES end up going into the robot, but whatever). Evangelion is a very down to earth show despite all the sciency magicky bullshit; shinji doesnt just snap away his problems and grow a pair outta thin air, he acts how a normal kid would in his circumstance. He has been literally and figuratively violated in all senses of the word for the entirety of the show, and noone tries to help him in the proper way he would need. And so humanity suffers for it, because they needed a hero but they had already broken and abused the only kid who couldve been it
