I think that there’s still a panic in the industry about dealing with hybrid vehicles when they are damaged. For you guys it’s well worth a shot at one of these every so often. Top job! 👏

When I saw the temporary fix on the pyro fuse, I thought that was a heads up for people to watch for when they’re buying a repaired hybrid (a “temporary” bypass that stays there), but from the sounds of the video you’re saying that the airbag warning light would give the game away. That’s good news. Looks like you guys are on a big winner here. 👍

Rob I know you paid £2900 for the car and the Car Vertical estimate for an undamaged one is approximately 23k but eventually even after it’s gone to the next man to sell (at maybe 15k ?) someone is going to be driving around happily in a basically brand new lovely car! 👍👍👍👍

All Renault hybrids always start in EV mode. Dead handy when you have a flat tyre and ignition turns off after 30 seconds making it impossible to use the tyre inflator repair kit! As for lane assist etc, on Renault cars you have to turn them on as default is off, brilliant idea.

My wife has an identical car except in black (March 2024 Esprit Alpine Clio Hybrid) The way the hybrid system works is quite interesting, it’s a 4 speed clutch less gearbox driven by the old reliable 1.6 Nissan petrol unit and a dual motor setup, car has no starter as it’s started by an electric motor, has electric AC and coolant pump too! When driving this the engine will cut in and out randomly and it almost acts like a CVT the way it holds revs half the time unless you’re flooring it which is when both the petrol and electric motors provide power for acceleration. Also interesting to note that it won’t always start when you “start the car” depending on battery charge and climate system demand, can drive it in EV only mode up to 30MPH depending on how much juice is in the battery. All in all the Clio hybrid is a great little car! She’s done nearly 10k miles in it since March and loves it.

Great to see she is now running and very smooth as you would expect for a new car. Chris, we are all entitled to the odd mistake and good that you can laugh about it as there was no harm done. We all know Josh is good at what he does so well done to him for his work. Well dome also to Edwin for his work in double quick time. We know you are capable of doing it Rob but it is nice to see someone who does it everyday. Now it is just bodywork to do and not too much damage there just a small pull on the Auto Bench. Thanks Rob and Chris for another very interesting video. 👍👍
@colinhealy27263 ай бұрын
Totally agree with you, Rob and Chris, about using second-hand parts. I work in a body shop, and 9 out of 10 cars that would come in to be fixed, we would be able to source second-hand parts at half of the cost of that they would cost new.
