Why are you surprised this comes from a new player ? Many speedrun strats come from new players, since they either stumble unto something while learning the run, or test around for stuff that works for them. The old guard knows what works for them, and do rarely stuff by accident. That is why getting new runners into runs is very important for every community.

I used to consider myself a little obsessed with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark in the late 90s early 2000s but i truly can't imagine still being obsessed with them 20 years later.... that's not to mock anyone who is still spending chunks of time playing them, just that the amount of effort and time put into it vs the reward seems a bit depressing. :(

One second he's walking into the pit that normally kills the player, and next second he's close to the inner sanctum before the final boss. How the hell does it work? I think the new Brawler64 multicolored controllers are the most usable nonofficial controllers, but I'm not sure what the speedrunning community would think. SteelSticks64.com is another option to use an original controller but replace the joystick parts with high quality components. It's on the pricey side, so it depends on how serious you are about playing the console.
