I don't expect to be forgiven, but this time i want to make a proper apologies. I am very sorry for my actions, comparing one player to another is not a good thing, I'm very sorry to everyone who were harmed about the things i said, especially to the one i compared to. And you're right about the apologies that i wrote on my profile, it was all rushed and i didn't know what i was saying. I realized that the apologies on my profile did not look good with the 'twitter' thing and does not look sincere, but that was too late change. I may be missing something but this is all i could think of. Again, i am very sorry for my actions.

A bit of perspective to the "joke", as someone who spend a decent amount of time in Filipino gaming communities and is a Filipino my self. Comparing ranks or bragging about it is very common. Obviously, it is toxic behaviour to do such thing, but in the Filipino gaming communities most people shrug it of as a joke and almost everyone anonymously agree that it is "humour". I agree completely with this video. Despite being an Osu STD player, rank doesn’t determine your level of skill, fully. I for one realised this when playing a multi lobby for fun, where many different types of maps are picked. I am rank 35k globally and there was this 6 digit, around rank 100k, completely destroying some of the higher rank players in the lobby. At first I thought he was cheating, or an offline player, but when I looked at his playtime on his profile, he accumulated 80 days total playtime. I for one was a rank 35k, but only had 15 days of playtime. This made me realize how different it is from playing multiple skill sets and putting a lot of time is as compared to completely playing the game for rank whilst only using one mod.

tbh 4k maps are mostly more difficult as 7k. sure 1:35 looks rly impressive but for such stream maps you just have to spam as fast as possible. try to do the same thing on a 4k map which got a 10 or 15 star rating. you'll see it's a lot more difficult. Edit: more fingers does not mean more difficult. who is already used to writing with 10 fingers (ok 8 + 2 thumbs) will not have any great difficulties with 5k - 9k. in addition, you get significantly higher kps with more fingers, which makes it less impressive.

It’s not that a mania player’s rank does not indicate the player’s skill at all. Higher rank does usually indicate a player’s capability on raw skill, but raw skill is barely relevant in the earlier stages of tournaments like MWC. Accuracy, consistency and memorisation all play way more important roles in earlier rounds. Therefore, mocking our captain (who was decided to be our captain not due to his skills, but his experience in tournament logistics and team organisation) on the basis of his raw skills to judge our entire team’s capability in the tournament is less of being rude really, but more of being misinformed or simply ignorant. Considering yourself more valuable over lower ranks is completely normal behavior for a competitive game. It happens everywhere, even in pro teams, and this is the first instance where I've seen people butthurt over things that /one person/ has said in regards to rank placement; either the osu community is too sensitive to this sort of stuff or now I'm in a world where talking shit from a high horse is enough grounds to cancel someone and not just call them a clown and move on. He's #38 in Country ranking, meaning at least one of the 37 people above him might think the way he does - 'I can beat this person, I have a higher rank'. Have you never seen your rivals' scores and compared it to your own? But saying you can beat lower ranks and popping off about it is suddenly considered unsportsmanlike behavior now, huh? Dunking on someone for saying stupid shit on the internet has it's limits. It stops being fun when the person comes out typing apologetics and backpedaling out of embarrassment, but hey, someone's gotta make an example for everyone.

>Considering yourself more valuable over lower ranks is completely normal behavior for a competitive game. Except osu!, first and foremost is a rhythm game before it is a competitive game. Rhythm games can test a huge variety of skills between different players, you should know this since you play Pump it Up. This is the reason why nobody really takes lower ranks for granted regardless of which gamemode you main, especially now that more players get drawn to maps of varying skillsets since Ranked maps have a lot more variety than just another aim-based J-Rock/Anime OP map. I'm 16k in Standard and I get mollywhopped by Have you ever seen your rivals' scores and compared it to your own? But saying you can beat lower ranks and popping off about it is suddenly considered unsportsmanlike behavior now, huh? First of all, what the fuck is this supposed to be, huh? An analogy? If it is, it's broken as shit. But I won't delve into that, I'll just be nitpicking if I did. Though for transparency's sake, I will say that I imagined your smug face typing that last part of the paragraph and I cannot stop laughing. On your first point. No rivalry should exist in a rhythm game community outside of friendly ones. This isn't like the FGC or Sports Communities, this is a fucking rhythm game. If you're out here wanting to create some hateful rivalries, I'd have to ask what the fuck are you even doing? Whenever I see a score my friend sets on a map, I feel inclined to play the map too. Whether or not I'll set a better score is up to my skills as a player, but do I ever feel inclined to go for a better score just because? Maybe, but only for shits and giggles. On your second point, nobody, and I mean NOBODY likes a braggart no matter which community you join. As the video says Rank=/=Skill, really the only way to see who is actually better is if you place them in a 1v1 situation where they play various maps from a decided pool. Huh, doesn't that sound oddly familiar? Oh yeah it does! Because prior to MWC, the Philippine osu! community did a country-locked Mania tournament for both 4K and 7K. If there was any better place for SpeedSkilled to make a case for the Philippine roster, that should have been the perfect stage to do so right? So did SpeedSkilled join? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no. I guess my point is, unless you can show that you can walk the walk, don't fucking talk at all. >Dunking on someone for saying stupid shit on the internet has it's limits. It stops being fun when the person comes out typing apologetics and backpedaling out of embarrassment, OH WOW!! What a novel concept that hasn't been done by a lot of people who said stupid shit in the internet before! Also "it stops being fun when the person comes out typing apologetics". Who decided that? :tf: On a serious note though, did you even watch the video? If you did, you should probably watch it again and actually understand what they're talking about before shooting off of the mouth. I doubt anybody will hold this grudge over SpeedSkilled for a long long time--I know I won't, but boy this will be the topic of inside jokes for a while LOL--internet culture nowadays is very much come-and-go. Public opinion on a person can change over time, maybe next year we can get to see SpeedSkilled play in the PH Nationals and actually come to like the guy, who knows? If they wish to better themselves as a player and person, then I'm all for it. I just hope they don't forget to look back at this event in the future so they won't end up making the same mistake again.

I did watch the video; I wrote that post because I understand where Speed is coming from (not that I know the guy, he's still a clown) and making an example of such a person is essentially making a mountain out of a molehill. Rhythm games have always been about you against yourself, surpassing your limits - But in a game with leaderboards and a flawed ranked system where a good chunk of the community is solely concentrated on watching big pp number go up, it's easy to find people like him. He's one of many, and in other gaming communities with ranked ladders, things like these are a non-issue because people are aware they exist. It's just cringe watching people flip their shit over behavior like this. I had my own osu phase, I reached #3 in my low tier country and participated in an MWC tournament because people had encouraged me to get good. I had rivals, people I wanted to beat and secretly hated because they play literally nothing else but osu; I ended up dropping the game and going back to IIDX because the competitive scene was suffocating. The need to get good at the game, surrounded by people who are doing the same, trying to stand out and seek validation makes everyone's ego inflate to dumb levels which is exactly what happened here. It's just silly.

If there's more that goes into difficulty than just note density, why did peppy make the entire difficulty system 100% off note density and refuses to change it despite being challenged about it over and over? checkmate

@@aIuph I was being sarcastic but for real. He's the yandere dev of rhythm games I swear. Ignores everyone's suggestions for features that are actually needed so he can spend years in dev hell making stuff no one cares about in lazer that barely anyone plays, that's also the missing core features people have been asking for since the beginning. Also frequently acts hostile and narcissistic towards mania players. He was in chat once and I asked him about reworking difficulty in mania to be less basic and he gave me a politician like answer, something along the lines of "well people are suggesting stuff and I'm kind of not really listening." So I asked what has he actually done or considered lately and he ignored me and dropped the conversation. What a frustrating guy

@@incongruous4 i remember he changed the marvelous judgement text in the argon skin to great and his reasoning was “i’ve never seen someone use marvelous for a top judgement before” or something like that, pretty embarrassing considering he claims he’s played o2jam and other vsrgs

I just wanna add a bit more from the perspective of a non-mania/very casual player, not to take a cheap shot but a friendly caution. In particular, "higher"-ranked players. REMEMBER, YOU CANNOT MAKE ANOTHER ACCOUNT(s) for this game. YOUR ACCOUNT RIGHT NOW IS YOU. So, Please be careful about what you've done. Especially matters that can cause an uproar.
