I purchased a new drying towel and it came incognito. Not only was it much larger than shown on the websites, but the performance drying my car blew me away. What brand you ask? The DIY Detail Drying Blanket! I'll show you just how large the towel is, and give you some great reasons why you may want to make one or two of these drying towels your next purchase, especially if you are just getting into washing and detailing your own cars.

Bro, not sure why you don’t have more subs. Your style and format is refreshing in this space. It’s personable and relateable to the detailing enthusiast and clear production. I for one have bought a few things based on your videos, and not from videos from much much larger channels.

Wow, that's quite the compliment. I will say that things in a non controlled environment do sort out a lot of products, but I don't think today that you can really go wrong with most things you'll find at your local detail supply

This is the best drying towel.on the market without question. Theres a reason its always sold out. The finer pile dries so smooth and well, doesnt snag on sharp emblems or badges or sharp blinker edges on Teslas. Im a mobile detailer and wash a ton of cars a week, its my favorite towels in my stack.

I have at least a dozen or more of the higher pile twist loop and they snag on the same spots every time. I never learn. This thing is a monster, and not quite as firm feeling at something like the dreadnought max.

@@TheOutdoorDetailer they’re very expensive, but I think their microfiber quality and innovations are pretty impressive. I’ve not used higher quality towels and they’re definitely a league above TRC and Autofiber(which I have both brands).

You should! It's 25 bucks, which is near the same price as the other twist loop towels in the size range, but this just feels better and glides across the car easier when it starts getting damp.

This is my favorite drying towel by a huge margin. Honestly the biggest benefit is the fact that it doesn’t pull on every single sharpish edge like a normal twist loop towel does.

The Osmo Action 4 is what I was using. I'm recording in 4k so I can zoom some if necessary, but it just keep shutting down. Then my cell too, also recording in 4k. May just have to stick with 1080p or even 2k if this heat keeps up.

Besides absorbency, I’m looking for softness so it’ll glide through the panels. I have a few twist loops and even super flush ones from trc and autofiber, while they suck up a tonne of water, they just feel hard.. my logic is, if I insist on using soft mf on other tasks, why am I ok with drying towel not being soft? Please share your thoughts, which are the safest ones you’ve used? Thanks
@TheOutdoorDetailer
@TheOutdoorDetailer 22 күн бұрын
Well the first thing that I keep hearing, and it is counter intuitive to me is that what feels soft to us may not be soft to the paint. That said, I think any good high quality microfiber towel will be safe enough. (blend between 70/30 and 80/20 but 70/30 and 75/25 seems to be the sweet spot for highest quality) I have found through time that a slightly damp towel works far better than a dry one. What I mean by this is that if your doing a rinseless wash, spray a tiny bit onto the dry side of the folded towel as you start and it will glide across the surface much better. With a normal hose type wash, I use a large towel and drag across the surface so there is no pressure, and by the time I get to the doors where I have to guide it with my hand, that the towel is wet enough that it slides across the surface easier. Also, towels will get softer after repeated washings. I've noticed that my most used dreadnought towels feel much softer now than they used to, and when I compare with ones I've only used a handful of times they are much softer feeling to me. As far as towels go, I usually use Liquid8r towels, dreadnoughts, or if you need soft feeling, the Amphibian towels have a nice plush side on one side, so you can toss the twist loop side across your roof, drag it dry, then hit the hood and other panels you see in sunlight with the plush side. Works really nice.

Oh, by the way, if you don't mind spending a few bucks, the Gyeon EVO drying towels are absolutely amazing feeling and soak up way more water than you think hey would, given their GSM. Cheapest on line source I've found is Detailed Image where they have a 2 towel package deal for around 40 bucks.

@@TheOutdoorDetailer what u said make perfect sense and it reminded me of an old video of "detailingschool" made about mf marring paint, during their test, all mf didnt mar the panel, and all mf marred the panel when they applied pressure, REGARDLESS of twist loop or plush long pile, so in the end, it's about technique, just make sure dont use pressure, let the weight of the mf glide and absorb the water. thanks for sharing ur experience, really appreciate it, and keep making those good quality content!

You're entitled to your opinion, but I was genuinely blown away by just how good it is. The Gyeon Evo towel as I mention in the video is incredible as well, but at 30 bucks it doesn't offer near the value. Btw, why would I grovel? It's literally out of stock nearly everywhere and if you actually order it at the one place that has it, I make like 25 cents, and only in store credit.

@TheOutdoorDetailer

Purchased from Detailed Image. (No real discount either, even with a wholesale account) I can understand your feelings, but I own near 30 different drying towels and this is one of the best I've come across. I wish they advertised the blend as 70/30 or whatever it is, but end of day, results count.
Why rinseless wash is better than a regular car wash.
