The fact that once again Porter Robinson influenced a whole generation of producers to create a trend in electronic music puts a big smile on my face lol

deadass! crazy how he is moving in such a conservative and typical direction with the new album, but i'm excited to see what people get hooked on next lol

How is this influenced by Porter Robinson? What song or album is this from?
@cooooooooooooock4206 ай бұрын
@@johnsherfey3675 Nurture. nothing sounded like Nurture before Nurture besides like MAYBE Onoken or Feryquitous but that’s artcore, porter is the first to take artcore sounds and mix it with pop production
@cooooooooooooock4206 ай бұрын
@@johnsherfey3675 Just check out the whole album if you haven’t yet. honestly a life changing experience. don’t listen to his new shit tho if you want an accurate representation of who he is as an artist imo
@thomasbreton96746 ай бұрын
@@johnsherfey3675 the whole botanica thing stems from producers wanting to separate themselves from the people saying their music had "nurture vibes". Nurture is the album that really pushed this style of electro-pop influenced by organic sounds and creative sound design. Porter Robinson did not created the genre in itself, I mean he's also really influenced by guys like Bon Iver and Masakatsu Takagi, but he is the one that made it "mainstream" or at least more popular. And it's after Nurture was out that Botanica appeared even tho many producers didn't really listened to Nurture they had the same influences as Robinson.

I've been making this style of music for years now and have gotten very deep into it! I didn't know it had a name. I was inspired by Monster Rally and The Caretaker among others. Thanks for making this, I feel less silly for wasting a million hours on my music!!

Something I really like about this genre is how different it can be from person to person due to how focused on what plugins you have and how you do sound design. I've seen people do huge melodic beautiful noisy covolution reverb and string heavy crackly sweeps that are more about texture and movement of hamrony than any pulse or melody and then I see stuff like yours which has vocals and heavily featured chopped up and pretty melodic loops.
@illford7 ай бұрын
isn't that basically every genre though? It's all going to be determined by what your tools are and how you use them. If you do everything in Hardware your dubstep will probably have a very different character to VR's dubstep or something

@@smoli yeh i mean you could go back to 70s when there was things like; mort garsons - plantasia, hiroshi yoshimura- green among many great newage-ambient records. but more modern inclinations on the sound through the 2000s and 2010s you had a mad collection of brilliant (mostly japanese) Artists like [.que], otograph, cokiyu, kidkanevil, mamerico, dom mino, serph, shlohmo, etc., Also in south America you have artists like barrio lindo, sidirum, populous, nicolous jaar or western stuff like four tet, jilk, natureboyflako, green kingdom, xela. but yeh these have subtle differences and this new crop prob got going around ~2017 but its all intertwined.

From how it sounds you could almost assume the "genre name" originated from the Soundtracks of the Game "Botanicula"

Actually came from Phritz, who tried to differenciate from "nurture vibes" referencing to Porter Robinson's album while remaining true to the original idea of using nature soundscapes and organical sound design
