I honestly think this gearbox, and especially the 2-in-1 gearbox+motor from pinion is going to completely revolutionize the eBike space. Once they can get the manufacturing costs down.

That's my kind of bike, I don't love tinkering with mine, just like to ride it. I think that's most riders, the hard core folks like to take their bikes apart and work on them all the time, but I think for the average rider, this style of bike is what they want. No chance of chain drops, no need to clean the thing much, just ride it. The price is still too high for that average rider, but the technology will start to be adopted by everyone and will get cheaper and on the more accessible bikes eventually.

i race xc for my local team and ive ridden a pinion gearbox and the low engagement caused me alot of trouble when i was trying to go fast but for someone who isnt trying to go as fast as possible i think its a great option
@MattyActive Жыл бұрын
That was something I forgot to mention that’s a great point, most people won’t even need the engagement or really notice it unless they’re racing or doing some sort of competitive riding.

It’s awesome for sure. As someone who rides ebikes (have a Niner RIP e9) I can’t wait to ride their new ebike motor with the transmission.

interesting bike. gearboxes are looking better and better.

It definitely has its pros and cons, if it sells ok it’ll come down in price but if it doesn’t come down in price AND prove to be as reliable as the current derailleur systems along with being easily serviceable it will just be a niché thing if it even survives…that being said I like seeing the newest stuff.

I was considering this bike having owned a 600X. No one had tested this particular Pinion gearbox so I decided to pass. Not an early adopter. Also the bike is heavy and the slop in the drivetrain was a no. Bought a Trek Roscoe instead and that is how I found your channel🙂 LOVE the 108 points of engagement in that rear hub! Also cheaper.

As wanna be trials rider / mountain biker with space for only one bike, I'd be worried about the engagement and the grears inside. I mean, I haven't rip chain yet, but chain is easy to replace. Stripped teeth inside gearbox, would mean getting it serviced at best, new gearbox at worst.

Give this man more subs please 🙏
@mrvwbug4423 Жыл бұрын
If they can get the engagement dialed in and the price down a bit, there's some real potential. Smaller frame builders like Priority and REEB (they also have a prototype of a full sus that uses a pinion gearbox) can get the ball rolling, then maybe a few years down the road a major brand may opt to use one in a mass market frame. Will they let you ride this bike back in Colorado? See how it handles our techy climbs.

I’m hoping I can get one soon when they get more in!

Will there be a non electric shifting option? I wouldn't mind the pinion gear box but not a fan of electronic shifting

weight? and hows the maintenance of these things. Especially the availability and cost of parts.
@MattyActive Жыл бұрын
It’s about 34 pounds I think, and there’s hardly any maintenance with this bike other than the normal wear and tear things. That’s the great thing about this bike is that you never really have to worry about maintaining gears or drivetrain

I've been wanting to replace my Trek Marlin 8 for a while, and I _really_ like the idea of this bike, but that price... oof. I just couldn't pull the trigger. So I bought a Roscoe 9 for half the price.

I would love the 600HTX but I am 6’4” tall and Priority isn’t going to make an extra large. I have always wanted their 600X for bike packing and general use but the same thing. Priority doesn’t make one big enough for me. Thanks for a great video.

@@kevinbathke2137 I haven’t ridden one but I called up Priority and spoke to them. They told me that at 6’4” with a 36” inseam, I am a little outside the perimeters for their large sized 600X.

personally, I don't see the need, advancing tech is cool an all, but I don't have any problems with cable shifting a chain.

My biggest thing is the fact that you can shift without pedaling is incredible. It makes normal shifting so inconvenient in my opinion.
