Incredible! I am currently trying to get into the biotechnology field myself, as a newly certified Biotechnician Assistant. I did not realize when I sought out this career that it involved such routine and frequent testing on animals. I feel uncomfortable working somewhere that is involved in animal testing. I want to help be a part of changing the system, and I truly hope I can work on a lab project like this someday. Thank you for caring about the animals!

Animal testing is cruel. I pray it comes to an end. I try to shop "cruelty free" as much as possible. I would definitely prefer to support cruelty free products and companies 🐾

To risk a human over an animal is immoral. Both are bad. One is worse. Choosing 5he worse option is immoral. This can reduce it and that's good but it can't stop it. Models are useful but very limited. Think of weather predictions, biology is much more complex. The weather being wrong means you get wet, in medicine it means you die.

The most positive and hopeful video I’ve watched in years. Thank you for every animal life that otherwise would have been taken. I hope that technologies such as this will someday put an end to testing on animals.

Models are a good start but it would be grossly irresponsible to not do real world tests before use. Models are approximations and can only test for interactions we already know about. The point of testing is to identify the ones we don't.

I hope animal testing is reduced and restricted to only a final stage of testing, research, and product approval. Technological advancements have been and could continue to be fantastic tools to mitigate in vivo testing, however there are countless unique and unpredictable factors that apply to something like the safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals, for example. Nature is staggeringly complex and in a constant state of change. Controlled environments like computer simulations and lab settings may not be sufficient for certain types of research and testing for the foreseeable future.

There are 5 stages involved in new drug development in the US. Animal testing (in vivo) is in the preclinical research stage (Stage 2) of drug research & development. The next stage (Stage 3) is clinical trials starting with healthy HUMAN volunteers, then with a small amount of people with the disease/condition, then a larger population with the disease/condition. So animal/test tube research only happens in the second stage. The whole point of switching to humans afterward is to verify whether the drug is actually effective in humans, so it wouldn't make sense to test it on animals in the final stage.

So what should we test on? You activists just demonstrate and provide no solution forward, you want us to cure cancer and other terrible diseases? We need animal testing?

Unfortunately if it wasn’t for animal testing most of us would probably not be here. Now I don’t agree with it but I’m not going to be so closed minded to say there is no upside. I mean if it comes down to testing meds on your kids or animals, Im sorry but I would like to think my kids could do more good for the world than the animal. Should we also outlaw animals killing other animals? Why do people ignore the evidence that doesn’t agree with their thinking? I’d like to consider all evidence before making a decision good, bad, or indifferent.

Minimise absolutely. Stop no because risking a human is worse than risking an animal.

@@jeffez6572 most tests done are completely useless though. Animals don't deserve this. And what if your kids turn out to be useless too? If they adopt your speciesist views, eat meat and buy products that unnecessarily contains animal testing, they will end up doing more harm than any animal ever could. Doesn't mean we are allowed to non-consensually carry out tests on them now, does it?

I don't understand. The title of the video says "could end" not "will end". Doesn't that eliminate dishonesty? My brother could win the lottery next month. He probably won't but because he does buy tickets, it isn't a lie.
