Yep I had to cut out all my lower strut towers out also. I used what you showed and Scott Rod fabs kit also and fixed mine

Dang! We should have looked at Scott Rod. We have the inner Scott Rod panels. Just slipped our minds and didn't show up on a search I guess.

Bet any welding that close will ruin the nearby paint, probably blister and bubble up, was it a northern car ? Why so much rust?

You would lose that bet, as it's been done for over a month now, and zero paint issues are present. Yes, the car was purchased in southern Indiana.
