Perspective... Should we comparing these vintage saws to our Modern Day Marvels? The 576's and 461's are a product of Evolution... To keep things on a somewhat level playing field, we might ought to compare the 'Ol 200 to a Remington Super 660 or maybe the venerable Homelite C-7... I'm sure there's a host of other 'Classic' models to fit this category. This was a time of rapid changes. Most manufacturers were running some pretty large chain in those days. Many modern saws would lose a bit of their enthusiasm if they were pulling .404 or bigger chain over a hard-nose bar. I love running my antiques. However, if I'm not out recreational cutting, I'm using something with considerably more chutzpah! Great video Buckin'....Blessings All!

Great Info for Ya! You know, I'm 47 years old and grew up in upstate NY on the Canadian border, and I mean literally. Trout River, NY. As a kid, my father had a McCulloch Pro Mac 610 with a 20" bar, and I can remember following him and picking up all the firewood that he cut, and loading it into the wood trailer. In the 80's our primary source of heat in the home was woodstove. My father even had a water pipe from the hot water heater feed into the woodstove (Fisher Papa Bear) and we had free hot water all winter long. My father gave me that Pro Mac 610 in 2010 as he was getting older and needed a lighter weight chainsaw to sling around. We all live in New Mexico now and have a cabin up in Weed, NM. Since I got that saw I learned everything I could about it and have landed 8 more on eBay for 50 bucks or less. I got them all running as most of them just needed fixing within the fuel line / carburetor and even spark plug in one instance. I love McCulloch saw and landed a McCulloch 200 two years ago and it runs like a champ. It breaks my heart that the McCulloch Corp. lost it's business trying to appease the (at the time) US Government EPA standards. In my opinion, old school McCullochs are like old classic muscle cars and I really love them.. They are something that really deserves to be worked on...... thank you for your videos, you Canadian accent and love for this stuff. I love your sense of humor too!!!

Hello Billy, The little side thing on the left hand side of the airbox (you mention it at 18.36) it is the carburettor jet cover. You have it installed inside out. When its installed the other way around it all fits inside and presses up against the side of the carburettor to keep the sawdust out. To start wind both jets in until they lightly seat then back them out one full turn. Once you have it running adjust the low speed jet in until it falters when you crack the throttle, then back it out until picks up instantly when you crack the throttle and that's it. The high speed jet is best adjusted from the one turn start point when you have it loaded up in a cut. It should run rough without a load and then run smoothly under load. As you said yourself don't run them too lean, the oil is in the fuel and they seize if you lean it out too much. Also do all of these adjustments with the air cleaner on. I love your enthusiasm for these old McCullochs, I sold and serviced them for 30 years. Please protect your hearing with some earplugs and back them up with ear muffs. My father has industrial deafness from these chain saws. Best wishes Ric.

I use old two cycle and a paint brush to clean up saws, plus ,y compressor. Do not use ethanol gas because it will take the paint off saws, but because I do not keep any of that crap in the shop I use gas from my container of old two cycle gas. It is real great for cleaning chains because it has oil in it. If I get a chain in dirt I wash it off with old two cycle and give it a good blow with the compressor.
