Tom Silva and Kevin O’Connor cruise around Brookline, MA in a ’57 Chevy before rolling up to the latest project: a lackluster 1957 mid-century modern house in need of a total overhaul. They learn about the full scope of work, and Charlie Silva starts in on demo.

Kevin introduces Brookline, MA, the setting for the newest renovation project. Tom picks him up in a beautifully maintained 1957 Chevy and drives him to the house, which was built in the same year but hasn’t stood the test of time. They talk about the exterior features that define the mid-century label. Kevin and Tom meet homeowners Sunil and Neha, and their daughter Nisa. After Richard gives Kevin a quick tour of the lower levels, Sunil and Neha show Tom the living and sleeping levels and describe what they’re hoping to do. Kevin meets architect Linda Hamlin outside and learns about her plan to transform the plain, boxy house on a tight lot into a modern marvel. Linda takes Kevin to another modern home to show him the modern elements she hopes to incorporate into Sunil and Neha’s home. Back at the project house, Kevin meets landscape architect to see his plans for creating private but functional space on a very tight lot that the family can enjoy. His suggestions include a sunken patio, tall skinny trees and a fence along the private way. Demo begins in the lower back bedroom, where Charlie and Tom start to tear out the wood paneling and concrete slab to determine whether there’s a crawl space of slab underneath.

I did all the trim & doors on two working doctors ( surgeons) bout a 1 1/2 ago. Why on earth they or even these guys had kids is pretty shocking ? They had a nanny addition done by the GC so the nanny could raise the kids ? That little boy stole my heart ! Everyday by the window waiting for me ! Great little guy !

Man I LOVE mid-century modern! With all of the 'futuristic' details, these homes were a testament to what the future might bring. After seeing how the 'future' turned out I wish I COULD go BACK in time!!!

I lived through those, "car wars days" Ford, Chevrolet, and Chrysler were competing, and 1957 Coupe, Tommy drove up in, was not the most Popular. The 1957 Chevy Hardtop was the car of choice, as that 57 Chevy Tommy drove was called the Granny car because of the posts separating the frontside windows from those in the back, so that your old Grandmother would feel safe in driving.
