The design and craftsmanship from 1987 would still be desirable in 2020 and beyond. You can say what you want about Bob Vila but that craftsman on that show were equivalent to an Olympic Dream Team in so many ways. Everyone of them is a legend in home building, remodeling, finish carpentry, design, mechanical, decorating and finish landscaping. They made craftsman a wonderful career choice and inspirational to many DIY’rs such as myself and other family members who were glued to each and every episode. So much so when working we spoke with a Boston accent to sound like Norm and Tom. 🤣🤣🤣

Not wanting to say the wrong thing he talks so little compared to today when he goes on about the different techniques he has learned since this was recorded. Really shows how he was just like the workers he showcases today. Great clip.

Then another contractor installed a cheap garbage plywood cabinets and the installer was inexperienced. LOL. Owners were so mad when they saw the result.. But not my problem since they didn't hire us to install.

I can totally see one of those obnoxious HDTV couples walking in, considering buying the place. She's blonde and named Alexis, and she can't possibly live with that horrible dated kitchen, because she wants to entertain ALL of her friends, even thought in reality her cooking skills don't extend beyond Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, and is insulted that the real estate agent would waste their time by showing them such an obvious trash heap of a house. Meanwhile the guy, Justin (little does Alexis know that he's cheating on her and they'll be divorced in 6 months) is off camera in the corner rolling his eyes, but for the sake of the show, he pipes up in slightly emasculated fashion that he can easily rip out the awful cabinets and install new ones for her, even though he's unable to discern the difference between a screwdriver and a crescent wrench.
